Starting point of the walk: Behringer Heide car park on Haverbecker Straße, north of Behringen
(S/E) We set off from the car park heading west onto the footpath. There are also a few information boards here with a map. After just a few metres, we are surrounded by purple-flowering heather. At the end, we turn right, then take the next left.
(1) We have reached a viewpoint overlooking the Behringer Heide, turn around and continue walking to the left.
(2) Turn left again at the junction. The path runs between the forest and the heath. There are several picnic benches along the way. We follow the path round a bend to the right and now walk parallel to the Brunau, which you cannot see, however. We pass a pasture with cattle.
(3) At the end, we turn left onto a tarmac path.
(4) We have reached a junction and continue straight ahead for a while, now back through heathland. We reach a small wood and turn left.
(5) Shortly afterwards, we reach Wulfsberg, where there are a few buildings and you can buy honey. At the next fork in the path, we keep left towards Tütsberg. At the end, we turn left.
(6) We have reached Tütsberg and the sheepfold. This is where the Heidschnucken sheep and goats spend the night; they roam the heath daily, helping to maintain the landscape. We follow the undulating path northwards; in the distance, we can even see the Snow Dome Bispingen.
(4) At the junction we passed earlier, we turn right.
(3) We then pass the path we came along earlier again, but this time we continue straight on. At the next opportunity, we turn left.
(7) We pass Bockelmann’s sheepfold, which is no longer in use today. Then we head back through the beautiful Behringer Heath and into a shady wood.
(2) At the junction we passed on the way here, we turn left.
(8) Then, just before Haverbecker Straße, we turn right and shortly afterwards we are back at the car park (S/E).
