Starting point of the hike: Car park at Appelbecker See, Appelbeck, 21279 Moisburg
(S/E) We set off from the car park heading south, past the Alte Mühle, and then turn left. The footpath takes us close to the shore of Appelbecker See. At the end, we turn left.
(1) We cross the Schwanenbrücke and, shortly afterwards, the Reiherbrücke. We follow the lakeside path back to the car park (S/E), where we take the second left onto the footpath towards the Este.
(2) We make a short detour to the left to the game reserve, where we can see fallow deer. Then we follow the Este hiking trail westwards.
(3) A bridge takes us over the Este. We take the next left, then left at the end, then right, staying on the Este hiking trail.
(4) We cross the Bumbeck. At the main road, we turn right, then take the next left.
(5) We have reached the starting point of the Estetal Forest Nature Trail; turn right and follow the nature trail. Take the second left, then left again at the end. The path takes us past a horse pasture; turn right, leave the nature trail and walk towards Emmen. There, turn right, then take the second left diagonally.
(6) We pass the Emmen inn. At the main road, we turn left, then take the next right, then right again across a meadow. At the fork, we turn left, then left again.
(3) We are back at the Este. After the bridge, we turn right and follow a narrow path right along the river.
(7) A bridge takes us over the Appelbeke with a view of the game reserve. We turn left at the next junction and walk back to Appelbecker See. Here we turn left and shortly afterwards we are back at the car park (S/E).
