Head to the village of Murinais, about ten kilometres north of St-Marcellin, in the foothills of the Chambaran plateau, via the D71 and then the D71c.
There are several parking spaces in the village, near the town hall or around the church.
(S/E) To the right of the church, take the D71c road, known as the "Bois de la Pierre" (signposted), and follow it northwards until after the first right-hand bend.
(1) Leave the road and take the road that descends to the left and, at the first left-hand bend, continue straight on along the dirt track (yellow markings). A few metres further on, take the path on the right and follow it, slightly uphill, until you reach the D71c.
(2) Follow this road to the left for about 950 metres, uphill (yellow markings here and there) and passing several bends.
(3) After a final right-hand bend followed by a short straight stretch and another right-hand bend, take the path that climbs to the right (yellow cross on a post to the left of the road). Follow this path uphill until you reach an area of cultivated fields, heading towards the D71.
(4) About 50 m before reaching this road, turn left onto a downhill path that runs alongside a fence (yellow mark on a stake). This path leads back to the D71c, which you must cross to continue downhill. Make a circular loop to the left and follow the path for a good distance until you reach a yellow mark indicating a change of direction.
(5) Turn right onto a narrower, steeply sloping path (take care in wet weather). You will come to a paved local road (Route de la Girardière). Follow it to the right, uphill. At the end of the road (sharp left turn and dead end sign), continue straight ahead on the dirt track, still uphill, until you reach Route de Faitas (sign). Cross it and continue straight ahead on Chemin de la Plaine.
(6) At the first left-hand bend, continue straight ahead on the stony path (green letterbox) and follow it, ignoring all the turnings on the left and right. Continue along the path, which becomes a track and leads to the D20g, Route de Chevrière (signs on the right), at a place called Croisée des Plâtres.
(7) Cross it and continue straight ahead towards the hunting cabin. Ignore the gravel track that passes behind it and take the dirt track that passes in front of it. Follow it for about 1,200 metres.
(8) Leave the path and continue straight ahead on the trail, keeping to the right. You will come to a new path. Follow it to the right to reach a wide gravel forest track. Follow it to the left for about 250 m.
(9) At the "Bois de St-Appolinard" sign, turn left and follow the dirt track that begins to descend gently towards Chevrières. See possible variations.
Continue along this path for about 3 km, heading south, until you see the Gollard chapel in the distance.
(10) Pass the chapel. A few metres further on, the path becomes a road at the castle. Continue along this road until you reach the first houses and arrive at the Château Rostaing road. Follow it to the left, downhill, to the next crossroads.
(11) Turn left and, 100 metres further on, take the path on the right that leads to the house. Just before you reach it, continue straight ahead, along the edge of the walnut grove, following a small ditch on your right.
(12) You will arrive at the D20g. Cross it and continue uphill on the road opposite (Montée de Charné). When you reach a wooden chalet, take the track that goes around it on the left, uphill, and then downhill towards the junction with Chemin de la Faitas (a place called "Gros Pierre"). See possible variations.
(13) Continue straight ahead downhill to Route de Chevrière.
(14) Follow it to the left for 1.4 km to the village of Murinais, which you can see in the distance, and return to the car park (S/E).
