(S/E) Park in front of the Trappe de Chambaran.
Head north-west for a short distance and turn right onto theGR®® de Pays du Tour du Pays de Saint Marcellin, walking for 800 metres alongside the tall hedgerows surrounding the Trappe.
(1) At a place known as the “Mur de la Trappe”, leave theGR®® and head due north along a wide forestry track for 1 km. This involves walking 600 metres along the edge of a large field on the left, then another 400 metres to a three-way junction at elevation 629; at the junction, take the left-hand path to a large junction where five paths meet.
(2) Take the path on the right, which descends into a small valley, crosses a stream and climbs up towards a meadow. This is Gargamelle.
(3) Make your way to the ruin quietly; if you’re lucky, you might spot some Smurfs or deer frolicking about.
Follow the track northwards and then north-eastwards, passing several paths on your right and left. You’ll reach a wide track at the edge of a clearing where, on a tree, there’s a yellow mark bearing the Compostela logo.
This is a section of a variant of the Via Gebennensis (Chemin des Genevois).
(4) Follow the yellow markings and scallop shells to the right, heading south-east, until you reach the Bois Secret.
It is not uncommon to see wild boars crossing the path.
(5) Continue due south tothe GR®® de Pays, just west of the Croix de Mouze.
(6) Follow the red and yellow markings westwards to the Mur de la Trappe to rejoin our starting path, then the car park (S/E).
