Mousson walks

Between the botanical trail and the old stones of Mousson Castle.

Pass by the summit of Butte de Mousson, with its castle ruins, and Butte de Xon, with its trenches dating from the First World War.

This historical walk (First World War) winds its way from one battlefield to another. The route runs between two strategic points: Le Xon, occupied by the French on French territory, and Le Froidmont, on German territory following Germany's annexation of Alsace and Moselle in 1870.

This is a pleasant route with no major difficulties, except perhaps at the end with a steep 400-metre climb. Take care in hot weather as there are several sections without shade.

A pleasant little walk around the village of Bouxières-sous-Froidmont, suitable in all weathers as the paths are paved and present no particular difficulty.

Fauna: peacock butterflies and green hairstreak butterflies, whinchat birds, yellowhammer, linnet, thrush, finch, chiffchaff, smooth snake, birds of prey...

This trail was marked out by young people from Millery and Autreville-sur-Moselle in July 2013 to enable anyone who wishes to discover it, with signposts and nesting boxes built by the young people to protect certain species of birds. All along the way, you will enjoy beautiful views of the Moselle and the villages of Millery and Autreville-sur-Moselle. If you love nature and listening to birdsong, then this walk is for you.

A route in Lorraine which, starting from the pretty little picturesque village of Prény, offers all kinds of contrasts: valley and plateau, forest and vineyard, town and village, medieval castle and high-speed train line.

This route will take you through part of the Rupt de Mad valley before the river flows into the Moselle, and to one of its typical villages, Bayonville. Discover the Rudemont plateau via a route that takes you off the beaten track.

A beautiful walk in the heart of an environment protected by the Conservatoire des Sites Lorrains (limestone grasslands) with a magnificent view of the Moselle and Rupt de Mad valleys.

Woods and open terrain make this circular route varied. It is a easy, smooth route for mountain bikes. On horseback, it is pleasant terrain but involves a dangerous crossing of the D907 road.

Observe the Gorzia valley, cross the Bayonville woods to the Mazagran farm, and admire the Rupt de Mad and Moselle valleys from the top of the Rudemont hill.

It's all in the title. The views along the route are breathtaking. When you reach the Sivry valley, you'll find yourself in a truly enchanting landscape. This hike is full of discoveries, including animals (llamas, mouflons, etc.) whose presence is unexpected at the site of the former microlight flying club. What's more, there is great variety, with part of the route in the forest and the other in open fields. Remember to bring a pair of binoculars, as they will come in handy.
