Montigny-le-Tilleul walks

Take a walk in the woods of the Sambre valley around Landelies and Aulne Abbey.  Bois du Prince, Bois de la Grattière, Bois communal, a bit of towpath, a bit of traffic-free tarmac with distant views of the region's mining and industrial past, two lift bridges, Aulne Abbey: that's the programme for the walk.With hyacinths as a bonus in mid-April.

A pleasant circular walk in the woods near Charleroi. Discover part of the Eau d'Heure valley and the charming village of Jamioulx. The Eau d'Heure is a small river that flows into the Sambre at Marchienne-au-Pont. It gets its name from its unique ability to rise in an hour and fall just as quickly.

Here is a short, easy walk in the woods of Leernes and along the Sambre.

A little countryside, a little forest, a little town, a little of the Sambre with a lock and an old drawbridge, Aulne Abbey, Thuin, Hourpes with its strange castle and, to finish, lots of forest: that's what's on the programme for this walk.

Hike starting from Rue de Paris; also possible from the square near the church 200 m away. The route mainly follows country and forest paths away from traffic. A very peaceful route with a small wood that is interesting for its flora, especially in spring and early season.

Starting from the church in the village centre, the route takes you along quiet lanes and small roads in the centre before heading out into the countryside. An easy family hike with convenient parking at the start.

You can follow the Terrils trails and enjoy beautiful views depending on the season. Come rain or shine, snow or wind. This pleasant little route can be done with the family (take care with young children) or with a backpack if you are particularly well prepared.

Easy walk, very flat and accessible to all (except wheelchair users). A very pleasant outing that follows a stream resurgence after the quarry and the memorial.

At the start, the hike offers an outdoor visit to the Château d'Ham-sur-Heure and the Sentier des Prairies du Château, which leads to the station, passing close to a waterfall and a half-bridge over the Eau d'Heure. After the station, the hike takes you over hill and dale through the forest for about 4.5 km before moving decisively into the countryside until you return to Ham-sur-Heure.

This hike offers a gentle immersion between Haies and Jamioulx, along rural paths, tranquil woods and discreet valleys. The landscape alternates between rolling hills, open meadows and wooded areas, offering a varied and soothing walk. Streams punctuate the route and bring a cool atmosphere, while the place names recall an agricultural and forestry past that is still perceptible. It is a walk where you take the time to observe, listen and feel, surrounded by living nature, local history and simple landscapes.

Around Thuin, a charming little fortified town, this short hike partly follows the Ravel 3 and Ravel line 109/2, passing through typical streets on the ramparts of Thuin and the magnificent Grand Bon Dieu woods.

This circular route will take you on a tour of the Upper Sambre Valley, home to Lobbes and the medieval town of Thuin. You can also admire the meanders of the Biesmelle river and take the RAVeL path, which runs alongside a tram line connecting Biesme-sous-Thuin to the Thuin tram museum.

On the heights of the Courcelles slag heaps, the walk will lead you to well-hidden and unexpected paths. Starting from Saint-Barthélemy Church.

A beautiful circular walk starting from Thy-le-Château to discover a little of the region's industrial past as well as its natural (countryside and forests) and human (castles, churches, chapels) treasures. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to discover the Marches de l'Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse.

This route crosses the countryside around the village of Laneffe, with a few woods along the way, via beautiful, accessible paths. There is a large car park at the starting point. The walk begins by following part of the Tour Saint-Éloi, a path taken by the Saint-Éloi procession during the village's traditional folk march. From (4), it continues towards the heights of the village, where you can see the surroundings in the direction of Charleroi. The end of the route gives pride of place to the green countryside before returning to the village.
