(S/E) From the car park (signposted "Le Merdaret 1100 m"), take the track that branches off to the left and, 50 m further on, take a path on the left (yellow markings). The climb is steep. You will reach a Y-junction at around 1340 m.
(1) Leave the track that descends to the right and continue the steep climb until you reach a crossroads at around 1480 m: signposted "l'Embarollin".
(2) Continue climbing to the left on a path that remains in the forest. Pass the Premier Chalet de la Petite Valloire, then at around 1780 m, the Deuxième Chalet de la Petite Valloire or Chalet de la Fouetterie. The latter includes a refuge (unmanned). From the chalet, head for the sign that can be seen above.
(3) Turn left towards Lac de Léat. The climb continues in open terrain to the 1994 m point, where the remains of a wooden sign can be seen.
(4) Begin the descent, following the GR®. Pass close to the Deuxième Chalet de Tigneux and continue downhill on a diagonal path to the Crêt du Tambour crossroads.
(5) Leave theGR® here towards Lac du Léat and take the path on the left, which will soon enter the forest. Reach the Premier Chalet de Tigneux, pass it and continue the descent. Join a track, follow it briefly and then take a path on the left (yellow markings), which will rejoin the track twice before finally joining it again.
(6) Turn left. The car park is now less than 200 m away (S/E).
