Mont Bellacha via Les Foyères

From the A90, take exit 36 and follow the Col de la Madeleine road; at the roundabout, head towards Pussy, pass the church and continue towards Nécuday. Once you reach the bottom of the village of Nécuday, take the tarmacd farm track and stop at the hairpin bend after the tarmac ends in the village of Les Foyères; there are a few spaces at the side of the track.

(S/E) Set off along the track, pass above Les Foyères to reach a track junction with a signpost for Les Foyères. Continue northwards, passing the hamlet of Les Foyères on your right. You will come to a path junction.

(1) Stay on the wide track opposite and, a few metres further on, leave the track and take the path on the right. Ford the Torrent de la Clef. Continue uphill to reach the start of the path marked ‘Sous la Thuile’.

(2) Take this path, pass the^first hairpin bend, and at the^second take the path on the left. Continue uphill to reach another junction at a further hairpin bend above the Chalet de la Thuile.

(3) Turn left onto the ascending path, cross the track at a place called Bois des Fontaines and continue following the sign for Col de l'Arc. Cross the track several more times and reach the Chalet de la Montagne d'en Bas.

(4) Follow the track for about a hundred metres, pass the hairpin bend and take the path on the left. Follow the relatively flat path which leads to a crossroads.

(5) Stay on the ascending path, pass by the Menhirs, a distinctive rock by the side of the path, and reach the Montagne d'en Haut chalet.

(6) Follow the track until you reach a path on the left. Below the Plan du Col, take the ascending path on the left; after crossing the track several times, you’ll reach a small plateau.

(7) Continue along the balcony path with views of the Grand Arc range. You will reach the Col de l’Arc chalet.

(8) Stay on the path and, at the next junction, ignore the path on the right leading to the Col de Basmont. Continue the ascent up a steeper slope, following the red and yellow markings. Reach the ridge below Mont Bellacha.

(9) Turn left onto the balcony path marked in yellow and, after a final steep climb, reach the summit of Bellacha.

(10) Follow the same route back to the Col de L'Arc chalet.

(8) Head right onto the path, which is fairly flat at first but then descends more steeply. Pass two hairpin bends and reach the Fraitière mountain chalet.

(11) Follow the fairly flat path, ignoring the path on the left. Continue, crossing the forest track four times to reach it for the fifth time. Cut across the fields for about a hundred metres to reach the initial crossroads passed on the way out.

(1) Turn right and follow the same route as on the way out to return to the car park before the hamlet of Les Foyères (S/E).

(6) Chalet de la Montagne d'en Haut, where you can spend the night with your own sleeping bag.
(8) Water point outside the chalet; you can also spend the night there with your own sleeping bag.
