Modave walks

A very beautiful walk in the Hoyoux valley, alternating between wooded sections, open landscapes with beautiful views and charming sites.

Starting from Modave Castle, this walk takes you through the southern part of the Modave nature reserve and the Hoyoux valley. You will also discover the hamlet of Tibiémont, the Val ford, the site of the former Survillers castle and its beautiful viewpoint. A beautiful forest path (the wooded lane) will take you gently back to the castle. This walk is recognised by the Wallonia Tourist Board (Belgium).

This circular starting from Jallet first passes by the work of art entitled 'Renversement' (Overturning), which has been overturned and lying on the side of the path for quite some time, a simple reminder that all human action has certain limits.Then, turning towards Goesnes and taking the Tige du Sart aux Roches, the route crosses the countryside towards Jamagne in the direction of the Triffoy Nature Reserve before climbing and then descending towards Vyle, its church and its castle, which has been converted into a residence.After Vyle Castle, the walk takes a long detour along the memory trail, that of the Secret Army and the Bagatelle parachute drop zone, between Pailhe and Goesnes, during the Second World War.On the way back, the route passes in front of the Château-Ferme de Tahier before returning to the Chêne à l'Image, the forest and its Trivouac and finally the magnificent Château d'Hodoumont. A varied walk from the heights of the commune of Ombret, leading to the banks of the Meuse, which you can cross via the new cycle and footbridge at the Ampsin-Neuville lock and its facilities, including the original fish ladder. The return journey takes you through the Neuville-sous-Huy and Saint-Lambert national forest.

This is a somewhat challenging hike through the woods on either side of the Fond d'Ohxe valley in the Saint-Lambert National Forest.Starting from the ruins of the Church of Notre-Dame in Ombret, the circuit skirts the hamlet of Les Communes before climbing into the woods, then descending shortly afterwards into the Fond d'Ohxe and climbing back up the other side through the Bois des Dames and Bourgogne woods. The return journey is again through the woods, on the opposite side, offering some beautiful views of the Meuse valley at the end of the walk.

Not far from Huy, discover a steep-sided valley with lush vegetation, caves and rock shelters, as well as the Lovegnée-Bosquet nature reserve.

Land of the Meuse, land of farms, land of stone, land of (rail)ways, land of castles. The hike takes you through countryside and forests, starting from the Château à l'Horloge in Bas-Oha (SNCB station nearby). Hike without description to be followed with the Visorando app.

The Condroz region is full of (small) castles and (large) farms, most of which are built from local stone. Some examples can be found in Ellemelle, Houchenée (castle), Baugnée (farm slightly north-east of the route) and Fraiture. The castle of Baugnée, on the other hand, is of a completely different style.

A varied walk starting on the Meuse hillside and then, after a steep climb, reaching the Solières stream valley. The return journey is via the Grand Henimont and Gives woods.

An impromptu walk in the Havelange region of the Condroz.Easy, no significant elevation gain.Easy access and parking in front of Miécret church.Very easy access for bikes too, but mountain bikes are recommended.

The feudal castle of Moha is one of the region's jewels. It is located at the top of a rocky spur on the heights of the Mehaigne, on the edge of the limestone quarries (both old and still in operation), and was apparently built in several phases between the 11th and 14th centuries. Archaeological excavations have revealed a much older presence. Hike without description to be followed with the Visorando app.

A pleasant, quiet and secluded setting. The route, which is often through woodland, is ideal for observing wildlife and remarkable trees, including an old oak and a sequoia. There are several interesting viewpoints. This is a variation of a local walk called 'du Chêne au Gibet' (from the oak tree to the gallows). The route also follows part ofthe GR®575. In the beautiful region marking the boundary between the Condroz and the Famenne, you can enjoy a superb forest walk with beautiful views.

In May, the driveway to Château de Ramezée is even more beautiful than usual thanks to the impressive array of colours of the many majestic rhododendrons in bloom.It's a magical place that you never tire of!

This is a circular in the Liège Condroz region, mostly through forest, although the start and end are more rural.It is always a pure delight to walk in the woods of Esneux or Anthisnes, whatever the season.Houte-si-Plou has already been the subject of much discussion and, according to legend, much water, as it is said to be a miller asking his son to "listen for rain" when he went to bed and there was not enough water in the stream to run the mill.Nowadays, the expression Houte-si-Plou refers more to an imaginary, unknown, non-existent place or simply a place at the end of the world, far from civilisation. A walk in the heart of nature through the Sclaigneaux Nature Reserve and its final viewpoint. A short circular loop for a change of scenery.

This beautiful walk in the northern hills of the Meuse starts at the car park of the Sclaigneaux Nature Reserve.At the start, there is a lovely view of the Meuse valley, limestone grasslands, orchids in season, old quarries and sand pits.Skirting the Bois des Douze Bonniers, the trail begins at km 3 on a steep path leading up to the agricultural plateau of Landenne. Caution: very slippery in wet weather.A short detour on the way back allows you to admire the Château-Ferme du Chant d'Oiseaux, where you can buy a few local products on a self-service basis.

Straddling the municipalities of Hamois and Havelange, the magnificent Bois de Porcheresse is mainly populated by deciduous trees that display their most beautiful colours in autumn. The hike alternates between country lanes and forest paths.

Come and discover the Vignobles cave and its climbing rock, the Sy chapel and the viewpoints from the rocks. Pass by the cross of the priest of Xhignesse, the shepherd's cross and the Saint-Donat chapel.

Gesves, a charming village in the Namur Condroz region, is said to take its name from "Gengeavia", which means "running water". Numerous streams criss-cross its territory before flowing into the Samson. The walk starts at the municipal administration building, winds its way through a few quiet streets and then joins the Bois de Gesves. After descending into the Samson valley, you reach the site of the old Bizonzon sandstone quarries, which were abandoned more than half a century ago.

Part of the Sentiers d'Art (Art Trails) is included in this hike. You will have the opportunity to discover four works of art in a natural setting: the Triskele, the Sans refuge, the Eau d'ici and the Chaise brûlée.

At the intersection of the Condroz, Ardennes and Famenne regions, walk through limestone grasslands, forests and country lanes to reach Logne Castle and back. The bridges over the Aisne (5) and the Lembrée, after the (13), have temporarily disappeared. If you start this hike, please bear in mind that you may have to wade across the river (5) as there is no other alternative.

This beautiful walk in the Namur Condroz region takes you to the source of the Bocq river, which flows like a fountain through the surrounding wall of the Château de Scy estate. Although the estate is private, you can see the rear façade, the park and the magnificent tree-lined avenue.

A simple but very beautiful region that conceals treasures in the valley of flavours. The Hamois region is a treasure trove of architectural, natural and historical riches: castles, mills and barns, with traces of the past along the Bocq, which has its source in the heart of the village of Scy. But above all, it is a little paradise where it is good to stop for a while. Partly corresponds to the Red Rectangle trail, in the opposite direction at the start and abandoned at the end.

This circular, starting from Bomal (municipality of Durbuy), takes us through varied, undulating landscapes (forests, pastures, park) around the Aisne valley. 

"The House of Megaliths: head for a land of legends".With a length of 6 km and an elevation gain of 125 m in a rural setting, we discovered a very pretty village with interesting architectural heritage and beautiful restorations.This treasure hunt took us through streets and roads, country lanes and forest paths.There is a significant but not mandatory elevation gain to reach the Pierre de Haina.

A peaceful walk, both rural and countryside, along the banks and immediate surroundings of the Mehaigne and its tributary, the Soile, between the villages of Avin and Meeffe, passing through Ambresin. The most pleasant section is undoubtedly the one that runs alongside the Mehaigne (known asthe"Sentier de la Mouhagne"), but the country lanes, lined with tall hedges that provide ideal shade along the route, also have their charm.

In the mysterious area of the numerous springs of the Geer, encounter the ghosts of the Lord of Herzée in the Chevées, the nuns in the former Carmelite convent, the prior of the convent in his farmhouse, and let yourself be seduced by the quiet charm of the two Lens.
