The Namur Condroz region boasts a large collection of castles, castle farms and large farms. Some of these castles are well hidden from the prying eyes of hikers, while others are quite visible. You just need to find a path or trail that has not yet been privatised so that you can observe them without disturbing their owners and occupants.
When it comes to privatisation of paths and trails, Castel Alne Castle takes the prize: it seems completely inaccessible. The silver medal goes to Chantraine Castle, which made us walk a little further than expected. Barvaux Castle and its farm are ultimately the most visible, from the rear. We expected private paths and trails to be off-limits between km 14 and 15. It was a wonderful surprise to be able to use them without restriction.
In May, the driveway to Château de Ramezée is even more beautiful than usual thanks to the impressive array of colours provided by the numerous majestic rhododendrons in bloom.
It is a magical place that you will never tire of!
