Description of the walk

To get to the start, from Janaillat towards Mousseau, follow the D10 and take thefirst road on the right towards Les Ages. At the hamlet, park at the side of the road opposite No. 2, taking care not to obstruct the passage (only about five spaces).
(S/E) Follow the path that starts opposite No. 2, ignore a path on the left and continue on this path until you reach the entrance to Janaillat.

(1) Turn left, leave the village and follow the D61. At the four-way crossroads, go straight ahead, ignore Les Borderies on your right and take thefirst path on the left after the farm.

(2) Turn sharply onto this path and continue, making a wide right-hand bend. Ignore a path on the left and join the tarmac road at a building.
(3) Turn left and follow the road to the start of a path that begins on the right, close to a stream.
(4) Turn onto the path and cross a small granite bridge over the Leyrenne. Reach the hamlet of Moulin de Villard and continue along the road until you reach a street on the right that takes you to Mousseau.

(5) Take this street to the next crossroads.

(6) Turn left to join the D10 and continue to the four-way junction that follows.

(7) Turn left onto a slight incline and follow this road. At the next junction (D26), continue straight ahead and, after about 100 metres, take thefirst road on the left.

(8) Follow this road, then continue straight ahead on a path until you reach the D10.

(9) Turn right, cross the bridge without safety barriers, then immediately turn left towards Les Ages and reach the hamlet (S/E).

Notes

From the start up to marker 6, it’s a lovely walk with some beautiful views. The path becomes less distinct towards the end of the forest, but you can keep your bearings using the small road below. Then, from 6 to 8, it’s along the road, straight ahead; it’s a bit long and rather uninspiring, even though the scenery is still lovely. Then from 8 to 9, it’s brilliant.

I rarely give an average rating, but in this case, without being unpleasant, that is what I am doing.
1/ In the second half between points 2 and 3, the path is non-existent and full of brambles. At this time of year, they are not impassable, but they are very much present. And I was following the map perfectly (using my phone)! It would be better to stay on the road after La Combe and until La Chataignère.
2/ The Moulin de Villard does exist, but it is not visible. Except for its channel.
3/ Too much tarmac (quiet roads, but roads nonetheless!)...
I therefore do not recommend this route. While it is not unpleasant, it is not the "best of Creuse".
