Yellow markings.
Park in the Salle des fêtes car park, in the centre of Savennes.
(S/E) Return to the main street, take Rue des Écoles on the right towards the town hall. Just past the town hall’s boundary wall, turn right. Note: the yellow marker is hidden by the post. This small street turns into a path and leads to the Fontaine de Champagnaud. Head up the slope on the right just before the fountain.
Turn left onto the road. At the first junction, turn left, then left again onto Route de Guéret (D33) and follow it for about 200m.
(1) Turn right onto the small road towards Les Vergnes.
(2) 400m further on, just before the stream, turn left onto a path. A small wooden sign points towards Reillat. When you reach the road, take it to the left for about 50 metres, then turn right onto an even smaller road and follow it for another 50 metres or so. Pass the hamlet known as “Le Méry” on your right: signposted “private road”. Leave the road and follow the path alongside the pond.
(3) Do not miss the grassy path on the left. It runs alongside the stream and stays as close as possible to the pond. It leads onto a small road. On this road, 20 metres further on, on the right, a sign indicates “vers la croix de Reillat”.
(4) Take this path, which climbs slightly. Pass through the hamlet of Reillat and continue straight on along a road that becomes increasingly unpaved as it enters the forest.
(5) At the first junction of paths and “roads”, continue straight on. Stay on the same narrow path, which then bends to the left. At the next T-junction, turn right.
(6) At the next junction of paths, take the first path on the left. Then, at the next T-junction, turn right.
(7) About 700m further on, turn onto the path on the left to head back down towards Savennes. Cross the road, cross the stream and take the first road (in poor condition) which climbs to the right. A yellow sign indicates “Savennes 1km”. At the T-junction, turn left and return to the centre of Savennes, to the Salle des fêtes car park (S/E).
