Departure from the car park at the entrance to the village of La Chaudière.
(S/E) At the entrance to the village of La Chaudière, take the small road alongside the first house on the left towards the Col de la Baume. Further up, take the cross-country path on the right. After the hairpin bend, go through the barrier. The track crosses the northern flank of the Serre de Montfort, following the numerous valleys without climbing too high, and arrives at the Col de la Baume.
(1) Continue straight ahead along the track. It climbs northwards, then quickly turns north-east and reaches a shoulder, turning right at a bend.
(2) Find the right path opposite, which descends south-east into the pine trees on the other side. It leads to the wooded Col de Faraud.
(3) Turn right onto the path that descends through the right side of the ravine. Reach the shoulder and a fork in the path.
(4) Descend to the left along the ridge and arrive at the Chapelle des Sadous.
(5) Climb back up to the previous fork.
(4) Turn left onto the path. Cross the wooded slopes at the same level and, after the valley, climb up the steep slope.
(6) Before the Col de la Baume, descend via the path on the left into the valley. It crosses meadows, then a scree slope (large rocky outcrop on the right) before emerging into the Vallée de la Courance.
(7) Take the well-marked path on the right. It climbs gently up the hillside, overlooking the Courance Valley, towards La Chaudière.
(8) At Serre des Croix, continue towards the entrance to the village (view of the entire Trois Becs massif), continue straight ahead along the main street and return to the car park (S/E).
