Departure and parking at the Évry-les-Châteaux cemetery car park.
(S/E) With your back to the cemetery, turn right and head towards the cross on the small grassy square (take care when crossing Rue Madeleine Boisset!). Turn left onto Chemin des Gouaix, then right onto Chemin des Rouillères. After 300 metres, turn left at the T-junction. The street continues downhill, then turns right and soon becomes a gravel path. Continue to the next intersection.
(1) Turn left and follow the road to the bridge over the Yerres. Cross the river and walk uphill, passing the Grégy cemetery. Continue along the Route d'Évry, passing two dead ends on your left, and go to the next intersection.
(2) Turn left onto Rue de la Branche. Follow this road down to the Saint-Pierre bridge (18th century).
(3) Turn around and retrace your steps to the intersection in the centre of Grégy.
(2) Once back, turn right and then, after 30 metres, turn left onto Rue Saint-Jacques. At the end of the street, continue to the right onto Chemin de la Marnière. The tarmac soon gives way to a gravel path through the fields.
(4) After about 500 metres, turn right. The carriage road turns into a footpath. Continue until you come to a wide gravel lane. Take it on the right and go down to the bridge over the Yerres (Pont des Romains, 17th century).
(5) Cross the river and continue uphill, staying on this road until you reach the top, ignoring the streets on the right and left.
(6) At the top, turn left onto Chemin des Moulins. Follow this street, which after a few hundred metres turns into a path. Continue until you reach a wide stone-paved alley (ignore a path branching off to the left).
(7) Take this lane on the left. After 150 metres, continue on the right.
(8) After about 250 metres, take a path that branches off to the left into a field (with grass of varying heights). Use the Prieuré de Vernelle in the distance as a landmark and head towards it.
(9) Facing the building, turn right. Go down to the Yerres river and cross it at the ford (if the river is not in flood!). Go up the other side, take the first path on the right halfway up the slope, and follow it through the fields to a footbridge.
(10) Cross the Yerres again using the footbridge. Go up the path and return to the intersection you passed on the way there.
(8) Turn left and follow the route in reverse, ignoring all the paths to the right and left until you reach the other intersection you passed on the way there.
(7) Continue straight ahead until you reach a barrier prohibiting motor vehicle traffic.
(11) Continue straight ahead on Chemin du Bois d'Évry, then Rue des Perriers. Pass Allée des Marquis on your right and arrive at Grande Rue. Turn left, then immediately right onto Allée du Château, which leads back to the cemetery car park (S/E).
