From Quincy to Montgeron along the Yerres

This is an unusual route, as the outward journey is by train from Montgeron station to Combs la Ville-Quincy-sous-Sénart station, and the return journey is on foot along a path that largely follows the banks of the Yerres.

Description of the walk

Please note that you must park at the Foch Est car park in Montgeron (€2 per day in 2016, payment by credit card).

Head to Montgeron station on the right as you exit the car park, go under the bridge and turn right.
Take the train (€2.50 in 2016) to Combs la Ville-Quincy-sous-Sénart station.

(S) Exit the station downhill, go up the street on the right, then turn left down Rue du Pas du Mulet, following the yellow markings. At the crossroads, turn left onto Allée René Lalique. Pass the next street on the left and continue to the next one. Turn left, cross the Yerres via a small bridge and continue right on a path that runs alongside the river. The path slopes to the left and rejoins the tarmac of Rue de Vaux la Reine Prolongée. Pass the next four streets on your left and continue to the next one at the top of the hill.

(1) Leave the yellow markings and turn left onto Rue du Bel Air. When it turns right, continue straight ahead on Sentier du Parc. At the entrance to the woods, turn right onto Sentier des Jonquilles until you reach Rue Saint-Exupéry.

(2) Return to the yellow markings and turn left onto Rue Saint-Exupéry for 100 metres. Go down Rue Boieldieu on the left for 100 metres and turn right onto the path.
Further on, pass the entrance to the pumping station on your left and continue straight ahead until you reach a hairpin bend.

(3) Turn left down into the woods towards the river.

(4) Turn right onto the riverbank and follow the GR® trail markers.

(5) At the first street (Chemin du Moulin), go up to the right and turn left at the next street. Stay on the same level, pass a crossroads and continue to Rue du Moulin Neuf, which you follow downhill to the left for 200 metres.
Turn right onto Chemin de la Croix Rouge and at the end, turn left down Rue Dieu. Turn right at the bottom and cross the bridge on the left. Turn right onto Rue du Gord and continue for 150 metres.

(6) Turn right into the square, cross the bridge and follow the Yerres river, turning left.

(7) After the bridge, turn right, pass between the stadium and the Yerres and follow it along the other bank. The river makes a wide circular loop, stay as close as possible to it, ignoring any paths that lead away from it or cross it.

(8) When you see the SNCF viaduct, turn right onto the dam bridge that leads to a developed island, pass under the bridge and continue along Chemin de l'Île.

(9) Cross Rue du Pont Peronnet, turn left for 30 metres, then right onto the steps leading down to the riverbank. The path follows the riverbank, goes around a pond, then runs alongside the swimming pool to Pont de Brunoy (Rue de Soulins).

(10) Turn right, cross the bridge and then turn left into the park. The path leads to a roundabout.

(11) Go around it on the right, reach the small car park opposite near the bridge and cross it, turning right.
Take the first footbridge, turn left then right onto the other footbridge and head towards Île Pantchou. Continue along the Yerres, go straight ahead at the next footbridge and turn right onto the other one. Follow the bank on the left on the other side.

(12) At the road bridge, cross the Yerres again, turning left onto Rue Marc Sangnier and 150 metres further on, turn right into Parc Caillebote and cross it.
The path then follows the Yerres for 2 km, crossing Rue Pierre de Coubertin near a market and ending up at Avenue du Maréchal Foch, where you turn left to reach the car park (E).

A very beautiful walk with lovely discoveries, a well-explained route with no difficulty. Note the presence of the Scottish cows "Ficelle" and "Caline" – don't forget to say hello to them!

Done on Wednesday, 8 May, a very pleasant and bucolic route at times along the Yerres. Semi-urban in places, not very busy except in the parks you pass through. Be careful between points 2 and 3 where, despite the late season, there were some very muddy sections. I took the RER train there and back, which was very convenient. I recommend it.

A pleasant semi-urban hike that allows you to discover the Yerres River. There are a few muddy sections, which is normal for this time of year. Certain parts of Brunoy to Yerres are very busy at weekends and during the holidays, as it is a popular walking spot for local residents.

I deliberately shortened the hike by starting from Quincy-sous-Sénart station and stopping just after Parc Caillebotte. It was a very beautiful hike, which I rank as number one among the routes I have already done since arriving in France. There are quite a few points of interest on or around the route that add to the experience (menhirs, bridges, churches, museums, etc.). The Périgny waterfall is lovely and worth a look. A flat and pleasant route along the peaceful Yerres river. A must-do!

A very beautiful, flat route with no difficulties, although there are a few bumps due to the properties that need to be avoided, especially in the first part.
Highly recommended.
