The Serruelles walk is a good warm-up before heading off to other nearby trails: Chavannes and its marsh, Saint-Loup des Chaumes or even Châteauneuf-sur-Cher and its Route des Loges de Vignes.

Description of the walk

(S/E) With your back to Serruelles Town Hall, take the grassy path on your left.

Follow route no. 7, which is signposted where other routes meet – the other numbers correspond to other routes in neighbouring villages.

(1) At the end of the path, head towards the Bois de la Souplée, then turn left towards the houses.

(2) At the houses and the crossroads, turn right, passing the sign for Les Loges de Vignolles. Continue straight on to the hamlet of Corqueux and go straight through it.

(3) As soon as you leave the hamlet, turn left onto the road. Keep the path on your left and carry on.

(4) At the next crossroads, take the road on the left. Pass through the hamlet of Le Pavillon.

(5) At the next crossroads, turn left onto the road to rejoin the Serruelles route (no. 7). (To the right, you can continue onto the Loges de Vignes de Châteauneuf-sur-Cher route (no. 9).) Pass through Les Brosses.

(6) At the crossroads, turn left, then take the first road on the right to reach Les Loges de Vignolles and a crossroads you passed on the way out.

(2) Turn right onto the road. At the next crossroads, follow the sign for the Town Hall, heading left, to return to the car park (S/E).

Notes

Worth a visit

La Chapelle des Roses: Listed in the supplementary inventory, this pretty 11th-century chapel stands on a Gallo-Roman site. You can see the remains of a Roman temple wall next to the well and on burial stones, discovered whilst digging trenches to bury power cables. These stones were used to cover wooden coffins. On the north wall, you can see the holes used to erect scaffolding. Under the roof next to the door is a stone from the church porch.
During Heritage Days, musical and artistic events are planned.
