Description of the walk

Start from the Saint-Symphorien lake. Easy parking is available along the D73, just past the town hall, heading towards Venesmes.
(Follow route no. 2 – the other numbers correspond to different routes in neighbouring villages)

(S/E) Take the steps and start your walk around the pond in a clockwise direction.

(1) At the junction in the poplar grove, take the path on the right and walk along the pond. At the end, join a tarmac road and follow it to the left, towards Les Occans.

(2) At the hamlet of Les Occans, veer left whilst staying on the D115. Pass through the hamlet of Bourreas.

(3) On leaving the hamlet, turn right towards Montlouis, then take the first path on the left. At the next junction (elevation 170), turn left again.

(4) You will come out onto a small road; follow it to the left for about a hundred metres. At the next junction, turn right towards Torchebœuf. Pass through this hamlet and take the first track on the left. Turn right onto the track and rejoin the tarmac road at the hamlet of Pied Nicot.

(5) At the stop sign, continue left and, after about a hundred metres, turn right towards La Moilterie. Go straight on and pass through this hamlet.

(6) When the road turns left towards the hamlet of Mousséas, continue straight on along a track between two fields.

(7) Take the first road on the left and continue, leaving the hamlet of La Préale on your right. Go straight on (north-east) for about 800 m.

(8) At the junction, turn right and you will soon reach the hamlet of Saint-Julien.

(9) Follow the D73 to the left towards Saint-Symphorien. Enter the village, pass the church and you will soon come to a junction.

(10) Continue straight on, passing the cemetery. Carry on south-west along a tree-lined path, ignoring a path on the left (elevation 166).

(11) You’ll come out onto a tarmac road; follow it to the right.

(12) Go round the hamlet of Le Terray on the left, ignoring two streets on the right. Continue on the D144 to return to the pond (S/E).
