Car park at the northern exit of the village of Ferrals-les-Montagnes, on the D12.
(S/E) From the car park, head to the village entrance, then turn right in front of the inn. Follow the direction of Le Mas along the small road, taking the PR des Hauts de Ferrals - marked with a single yellow line in the opposite direction to the official route. Take the forest road to the Le Mas junction.
(1) Continue along the path opposite, which extends the road. Ignore all side junctions, heading north for a short while, then turn left above Les Clauses. After a few bends, you will arrive at the entrance to the Peyroubayle farm. Pass to the right of a barn to reach the D920 and the tarmac road.
(2) Proceed cautiously a few metres to the left on the road before turning right onto the DFCI AVM5 track. Leave it almost immediately on the left to bypass a circular loop. After 650 m of 15% gradient towards the north-west, rejoin the track at a crossroads. Continue straight ahead and reach another crossroads. Cross the junction and continue to a fire hydrant.
No more markings
(3) Leave the markings and head towards the Limouzy plateau opposite. Leave the farm entrance on your right and head towards the D 920. Turn left and continue to the junction with the D182.
(4) Turn right onto this road. Ignore the access road to the Tinteyne farm on your left and continue to a crossroads. Turn left to stay on the D 182.
PR® markings (1 yellow stripe) "La Fontaine des Trois Évêques"
(5) Take the path on the right that climbs alongside a fence towards Serre d'Alaric. Join a track and follow it to the right to reach the ridge (elevation 922). Then begin the descent to the Saladou plateau covered with heather.
End of markings
(6) Leave the markings on the path that climbs to the right, continue straight ahead and arrive at a fork. At the start of a stream, turn left and go around the Parrouty basin. Then turn north-east to rejoin the D182. Turn right and reach the crossroads with the Route de la Pode.
(7) Turn left onto the D182E2, which crosses pastureland.
(8) At the bend, enter the forest on the right and then turn right 150 m further on. Walk along the edge of a meadow, then turn south and continue to an intersection.
(9) At the fork (elevation 571), turn sharply left to reach La Balme (yurt on the left). Descend two hairpin bends until you reach the Route de la Pode.
(10) Follow the D182E2 to the right along the Ruisseau des Singles stream and look for a path on the left (with railings) to reach the Source de la Cesse.
(11) After stopping at this idyllic spot, follow the access path to the road. Cross the bridge over the Cesse and turn left to reach the village. Cross the village, going up the D12. Pass the town hall and the inn and return to the car park at the village exit (S/E).
