You can park in the car park right next to the starting point.
(S/E) Take the green path straight ahead, heading south-east. Go under the bridge, continue for about 250 m, then take the path on the left which leads you back onto the stony track. Turn left and continue to the gate, which you can open by holding the black handle. You will then reach the crossroads.
(1) Turn left and cross the bridge. A little further on, turn left into the lane where you’ll find a rare attraction, ‘Les Gros Chênes’ – five-hundred-year-old oak trees.
(2) Retrace your steps, return to the stony path and continue to the left until you reach the Croix des Veneurs.
(3) Turn right onto the D26 and head for the junction by the Château du Comte de Paris, the town’s landmark. The Comte de Paris is the direct heir to the French crown. He owned the Château du Nouvion estate and its forest until the early 1980s.
(4) At the junction, turn right onto Allée du Sous-Lieutenant François d’Orléans.
A little further on, you’ll pass a rest area known as ‘les quatre bancs’ (the four benches), surrounded by Virginia tulip trees, with an old dairy farm opposite the benches.
Continue along the path, passing the municipal campsite, and you’ll find yourself back at the starting point (S/E).
