From Pontgibaud, head to Pontaumur via the D941. Parking is available at Place de la Poste.
(S/E) From the starting sign, take Venelle Amédée Chapelle. After 50 m, turn left onto Rue des Ânes, which quickly turns into a path. Go through a metal gate (chicane) and follow the Sioulet for about 2.5 km. At the intersection with a wide path, go down to the left to a footbridge over the Sioulet (Pont de Pellefort).
(1) Cross the bridge and continue along the path opposite, which winds upwards and turns into a small road.
(2) At the last house in the hamlet of Pellefort, turn left and climb back up to the plateau until you reach a T-junction.
(3) Take the road on the left to the village of Les Bouchons.
(4) At the cross, turn right and, 100 m further on, turn left.
(5) At the last house in the village, take the path on the right. Follow it and descend into the Sioulet valley.
(6) At the first house in Salmagne, take the small road on the right to join the D987 at the entrance to Pontaumur.
(7) Take it to the left, cross the Saunade and arrive at the D941.
(8) After the supermarket, turn left to cross the Sioulet, go around the town hall and, via Rue Paul Chassaing, reach Place de la Poste (S/E).
