Park in the car park at Levoncourt church.
(S/E) Walk down Rue de l’Église, cross the D411 and the River Largue, then walk up Rue de Charmoille until you reach a fork in the road.
(1) Turn right and walk past the little Saint-Laurent Chapel on your left; continue until you reach a crossroads at the end of the tarmac road.
(2) Take the path on the right, then turn left at the next junction. Pass under a power line, go round a copse and join a stony track.
(3) Turn right onto this track, walk through the woodland, then turn left at the next junction. You’ll reach a multi-way junction by a pond.
(4) Turn left and walk along the left-hand side of the pond, then veer right. Cross the D473 with great care. Continue straight ahead into the Chaluet Forest and reach the southern shore of the Étang du Chaluet.
(5) Take the dirt track opposite to walk along the left-hand side of the Étang du Chaluet. You’ll come to a forest track; follow it, turning right, walking past some fishermen’s huts until you reach a crossroads at the foot of some trees.
(6) Take the path on the left, pass between the fields, ignoring the turnings to the left, and arrive at another crossroads on the edge of the woods.
(7) Turn left at a 90° angle, walk alongside the woodland and then enter it. Shortly after leaving the woodland, you’ll reach a road (D41).
(8) Take this road to the right with care to reach the entrance to the village of Courtavon, the Pont de la Largue and the junction with the D473.
(9) Turn left onto the D473, towards Ferrette, until you reach the edge of the village. Turn right onto the Chemin de la Claverie, at the last houses. Continue to thefirst path on the left.
(10) Follow this straight track to walk once again through meadows and fields, continuing along it until you reach the path marked with a Yellow Ring, a few metres after passing under the power line. Carry on straight ahead, enter the forest and you’ll soon reach a crossroads with several directions.
(11) Turn right here and carry on straight through the forest, following the Yellow Ring and Red Diamond markings. Keep following these markings until you reach a track.
(12) Cross it and continue straight ahead, still following the same markings. You’ll easily reach the car park at Levoncourt Church (S/E) via a very gentle descent.
