Around Levoncourt

Parking available near Saint-Maurice Church in Levoncourt, Rue de l’Église.

(S/E) From the car park, with the church on your left, walk to the crossroads at the end of Rue de l’Église. Leave the return path on your left and continue straight ahead on the right for a few dozen metres. Take the path on the right which climbs along the edge of the forest to the heights of the village of Levoncourt.

(1) At the end of the path, it continues as a track that descends to join the road (D41). Take this road on the left for about a hundred metres , taking care.

(2) Turn onto the path on the right, cross the bridge over the Largue and continue towards Morimont. After a few dozen metres, enter the forest, then take the^first dirt track on the right and follow it until you reach the edge of the forest.
Continue along the path that runs between two fences. At the end of the path, you can visit the deer park by taking the path on the right towards a rest area with a view of the village.
On your return, continue straight on to reach a wide path.

(3) Take this path on the right, which turns left and crosses a small wood to reach another T-junction. Turn right, then left, to pass in front of the small chapel (oratory). Follow this tarmac road to the end, to a crossroads.

(4) Take the path on the right which descends into the meadows. Turn left after about 150 m. Further on, the path continues along the edge of the forest, turns right and reaches a T-junction.

(5) Turn right onto the path that crosses a small wood called the "Bois des Fourches". Continue until you leave the forest and, at the^first junction, turn left onto a path that descends towards the ponds (four-trunked oak on the right).

(6) At the T-junction, turn left towards the ponds, then, after the right-hand bend, take the path on the right which runs alongside the stream from the ponds’ overflow and follow it as it crosses the Largue bridge (old sawmill on the right).

(7) Continue along the dirt track which crosses the Largue towards the sewage treatment plant, following the Largue on the right. On reaching the plant, go round it on the right and continue to the road.

(8) Take the road to the right with care for about a hundred metres. When you reach the wayside shrine, leave the road and turn left onto Rue des Moissons, which runs behind the shrine and leads to the housing estate. At the end of this street, continue along the path that runs to the right of the tennis court and crosses the playground to the junction encountered on the way out. Turn right towards the church and return to the starting point (S/E).
