Description of the walk

Access: A75, Exit 19 Lempdes; take the first road on the right towards the campsite; car park at the community hall near the campsite.

Signposting: Yellow

(S/E) From the multi-purpose hall car park, head left and walk past the campsite entrance. Then turn right onto the path that goes uphill and, after the first bend, turn right at the junction of the paths. Join the D654 road.

(1) Cross the road and take the path opposite. At the junction, take the path on the left which goes uphill and rejoins the road you crossed earlier.

(2) Just before this junction, turn right onto the path that climbs.

(3) At the next junction, carry on straight ahead until you reach the pass between Puy Ferrat and La Bastide, then continue to the hamlet of Scoularoux

(4) On entering Scoularoux, walk straight through the village until you come to a wall. Turn right onto the path that climbs; at the top, turn left and continue straight on, overlooking the road, until you reach the water reservoir.

(5) At the reservoir, turn right and carry on to Moriat.

(6) Walk round the castle on the left and, in front of the castle’s main gate, follow the road and then continue straight on along Rue de la Vizade. At the crossroads, turn left towards Lempdes.

(7) At the junction, take the small path branching off to the right which joins the main road. Cross the road, take the path opposite (slightly to the left) and continue to the car park (S/E).

A lovely walk with beautiful views of the region. There are few shaded sections, so it’s best to avoid it in hot weather. Joie Village in Mariat, three-quarters of the way along the walk

A picturesque walk with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. An interesting exploration of small hilltop villages.
Watch out for the signposting after the first climb – a cross is in the wrong place.
