Description of the walk

Departure point and access: Lardy station.
- RER - Line C, on the section between Paris and Étampes.
Take exit 1 Rue de la Gare, on the side of track 1B, in the direction from Paris to Étampes (if arriving in the opposite direction, use the subway).

Red and white signposting
On longer or shorter sections of the route leading to the point (3), this signposting is supplemented by signposting in other colours: Blue and White, Blue, Yellow. For simplicity's sake, stick to the red and white markings on the GR®1.

(S/E) On leaving the station, turn left. At the corner of a bar-tabac, turn right into Rue de la Gare (towards the town centre). Go downhill and ignore the perpendicular streets. In the distance, note the Tour de Pocancy, the top of which rises out of the forest. At the bottom, turn left onto the D146. After a few dozen metres, turn right into Rue de Goujon. Cross the Juine and pass the old Moulin de Goujon.

(1) Follow the road as it bends to the left. At the end, turn right-left into Rue des Cagettes. At the next fork, turn right into Boulevard Charles Leclerc. At the end of the road, turn left (forestry gate; leave the yellow markings to the right). Walk through undergrowth dotted with sandstone boulders.

(2) At a crossroads, turn left and climb steeply (wooden steps). Pass a small building at the top of the hill then turn left. Cross a small sandy area, veer right and, at the crossroads, continue straight ahead.

Blue and white markings

(3) At a T-junction, turn right (leaving the GR® to the left). At the next junction (signposted "Forbidden to motor vehicles"), turn left at a right angle. Reach the Dolmen de la Pierre Levée on the right-hand side of the path just before leaving the wood.

Yellow signs

(4) On leaving the wood (signpost), head south-east on a track between fields, towards a large farm. Ignore a track on the right and, at the T-junction with a track, turn left (beautiful chestnut trees on the left). Reach the entrance to Ferme de Pocancy (dovecote at the end of the courtyard).

Orange + Red and Whitemarkings at the start

(5) Continue south-east towards Bouvray-sur-Juine (signpost). Go past the reservoirs on your left. At the next fork, turn right onto the main track (leaving the GR® to the left). Descend with a few bends.

Yellow markings (rare due to lack of support)

(6) At the crossroads at the bottom of the descent, turn right (south-west; no markers here). Follow a track that climbs slightly between two fields that are themselves bordered by woods. Then follow the edge of a wood on your left, then again between fields, again to the south-west. Turn right at the corner of a wood and immediately reach an intersection.

(7) Turn left to enter the wood (signpost). Descend into the wood, staying on the main path (private property signs on either side). At the bottom, at a T-junction (signpost), turn right at the edge of the wood on your right. The path bends left and climbs between fields. At the next T-junction (grove, signpost), turn right. After about 100 metres, join the GR®655at a crossroads.

Red and white markings
Follow the GR®655and then the GR®1as far as Lardy station. The red and white markings on the GR® are often supplemented by yellow markings (up to the point (11)) or another colour. Here again, the easiest thing to do is stick to the Red and White markings.

(8) Go straight ahead (west-north-west) towards the Ferme des Grand Bois. At the corner of the farm, turn left (note a beautiful building in the courtyard on your right) and, at the next corner (information panel), turn right. Leave a small house on your left and a farm shed on your right. At a triple fork located at the corner of a wood (signpost), take the right-hand path between cultivated fields. Then enter a wood.

(9) At the next fork in the road, take the widest path on the left. Descend on a sandy track, ignoring the tracks to the left and right. At another fork, turn right. Leave the wood and continue straight ahead. Cross the D17 (take care), turn right into Rue de Janville and you will soon come to a triangular plot (water pump).

No signposting

(10) Take the road on the right for a short round trip to admire the Château de Gillevoisin from its gateway.

Red and white markings

(10) Once back at the triangular square, turn right into Avenue du Château and walk through the village. At the stop sign, turn right into Rue de Chamarande. Cross the Juine and reach the D146. Turn left and follow this road for around 200m (be careful, there is no pavement; the left-hand side offers better visibility). Leave the road when it bends to the left, and take a path on the right (beautiful old house with green gate on your right). Pass under the railway bridge and come to a forest gate.

(11) Ignore the yellow arrow that invites you to turn left, enter the Forêt du Belvédère and continue north. At a T-junction, turn right into a stone path (Allée Royale) and climb up. At the top of the hill, at a triple fork, take the right-hand path, which climbs again. After a bend to the right, at a fork in the road, turn left and go through a forest gate.

(12) At the next crossroads (signpost), let the GR®655go left along with a branch of the GR®1and take the other branch of the GR®1opposite (south-east) towards Lardy. At the next T-junction, turn left. Ignore a track on the right.

(13) At the next junction, turn right. At the next junction (post engraved with a cross), turn left. At the next forest gate (house opposite), turn right and go steeply down a track that soon becomes a street. When you reach Lardy station, use the public footpath to access the tracks or return to the car park (S/E).

To get back home:
- RER - Line C, towards Paris (immediate access) or Étampes (take the subway).

- In the car park at Janville town hall, 200m from the route between (1) and (3) (thanks to likaro for this information).

Hiking shoes useful. Between (4) and (9), the route is mainly on open ground: remember to use sun protection depending on the season.

There are no identified water points on the route. Bar-tabac opposite Lardy station. A few shops in Lardy and Janville-sur-Juine. The small square near the Château de Gillevoisin is ideal for a shady stopover.

A varied and very pleasant hike between plateaus, woods and the Juine valley.
The Château de Gillevoisin is a little disappointing.
You can visit the nearby Château de Chamarande.

This is my first hike with Visorando and I'm really happy!
I thought the level of the hike would be more difficult.
We came across deer and shrews.
A very pleasant walk between fields and forest!

Lots of people on this Sunday morning (mountain bikers, hikers), the ride is beautiful and there are many points of interest and the landscapes through the fields at this time of year are magnificent (first poppies in the fields).

A very pleasant walk along forest tracks, fields and through villages. We really enjoyed the change of scenery, with farmers at work. The château and estate of Gillevoisin are not open at this time of year. The route is very well signposted, but explanations are essential, thank you. Be careful between points 11 and 13 in wet weather, mud guaranteed.

Interesting route, halfway along a most magnificent 17th century farmhouse. Fields of sunflowers in bloom... a few scares with the resumption of hunting and literally a hike led to the sound of cannons.
Come back out of the hunting season...

pleasant circuit, the fields of sunflowers at this time of year are an added attraction, so don't hesitate to make a diversion to the Chamarande estate.

The detour via the Domaine de Chamarande is a real bonus, with water, toilets and plenty of tables and chairs for lunch breaks in a magnificent setting.
Just before junction 11, before passing under the railway line, take the Route de Lardy on the left. The entrance to the estate is about 200 metres away.
To set off again, take the same exit and head opposite towards the Belvédère car park, continuing through the forest on the royal alley. You'll find the circuit again after point 11.

A very pleasant route, especially at this time of year! A few hikers along the way, but it's not a very busy route. The route is very detailed and easy to follow! If you're driving, you can park at the stadium car park in Lardy, then walk straight down the Rue Tire Barbe to the Grande Rue and pick up the route.

Very nice walk, lots of variety of landscapes (forest, undergrowth, fields), very little traffic for a Saturday afternoon.
Beware of mosquitoes, which are very present in the forest and undergrowth in stormy weather.

We loved the variety of landscapes (forest, fields, undergrowth) and the heritage along the way.
Very well described, only one approximation
(13) At the next junction, turn right. At the next crossroads (post engraved with a cross), turn left.
In reality you should turn RIGHT. In addition, there is now an iron forest fence.

A truly beautiful walk

I was a little disappointed by this walk, given the glowing reviews. A large part of the walk is spent on paths in open fields, in the sun and quite bare (and uphill). The forest sections are quick and short, in undergrowth, in private groves adorned with "Private property" and "Bullets fired" signs. Pretty villages and limestone houses. Few people, except at the end of the walk, after passing under the railway line, which was marred by a race of mountain bikes hurtling along at full speed. The route is starting to look a bit dated, and a lot has changed (markers have disappeared, a pavement has appeared on the D164, etc.).

Lovely walk in fine weather and a cool breeze. Fortunately, the hunting season was over, so we were able to return to this countryside of fields and copses. Varied and pleasant.
