Description of the walk

Access: Étréchystation , on the Étampes branch of the RER C.

Red and white markings (GR®11)

(S) From Étréchy station, turn left onto Boulevard de la Gare, which runs alongside the railway tracks. Continue along Avenue d'Orléans, which curves slightly to the left. Continue to the junction with Rue Jean Moulin, which branches off to the right just before the bridge under the tracks.

(1) Take this street on the right, then turn left onto Rue de la Butte Saint-Martin, continuing to the edge of the forest after the last houses.

(2) Turn onto the small path on the right that enters the Forêt Départementale d'Étréchy. After about 50 metres, turn left onto the path that climbs into the woods and reach the top near an antenna and a clearing. Leave the antenna on your right and continue between the clearing on your left and an old quarry on your right. Join the road and follow it to the right for about 100 metres.

(3) Turn onto the wide path that branches off to the right, on the other side of the quarry, then follow it to the left. In the middle of a right-hand bend, take a small path on the left, which eventually descends steeply to rejoin the road.

(4) Continue along the road to the right and climb up the valley that appears. Pass the Coudray farm and then take the straight path that continues opposite.

(5) Continue along this path for about 3,500 metres until you reach a road (D207) at the Poêlées farm, on the heights of Brières-les-Scellés.

(6) At the D207, take the small road on the left that descends towards Brières.

(7) Halfway down, turn right onto a small path in the woods, parallel to the road (more pleasant route). You will rejoin the road almost at the bottom, just before the junction with Route de Villeconin.

(8) Continue straight ahead towards the church and go around it on the right-hand side. Continue along Rue du Cochet, then turn right onto Chemin des Vaux du Bois, which passes in front of the cemetery. Continue along the forest path that extends from it and climbs back up to the plateau through the woods.

(9) When you reach the top of a T-junction in front of power lines, take the path on the left. Turn right as you pass under the lines, then continue straight ahead for about 700 metres.

(10) Then turn left, then right after 300 metres, behind Maison Lange. Follow this new straight path to Croix du Four, at a three-way junction.

(11) Turn onto the path on the left (note that some maps show the GR® on the path on the right, but you must take the left). Continue to the crossroads at the entrance to the village of Boissy-le-Sec, at the castle park wall.

(12) Turn left along the wall, then right onto the road leading to the centre. Pass in front of the castle and continue to Place de l'Église.

(13) Turn right to go around the church on your right, then right again, then left onto Rue Closeau, in front of the town hall. Then turn right onto Rue du Hulot.

(14) Follow it to the left and leave the village by continuing straight ahead. Cross the agricultural plateaus again for about 1,500 metres to reach the groves that alternate with fields for the next kilometre. Follow the path that eventually turns right as it descends into the valley. At the bottom, you will reach a T-junction.

(15) Turn left towards the hamlet of Fourchainville. Pass a path on the right, then another on the left just after, and you will arrive at the foot of a road that climbs up to the left.

(16) Take this road on the left to climb back up to the plateau. Take the first path on the right at the top, at the Villeneuve les Fourches farm. Follow the path on the right, first through fields and then through woods, as it descends towards Villeconin and the Renarde valley.

(17) At the bottom, take the wider path on the right that leads to the main street of Villeconin. Turn left, pass in front of the castle, and you will arrive at the church just after.

(18) Go around the church on your right and continue right on Chemin de Saint-Chéron. Follow it to the edge of the village.

(19) Just after the edge of the woods, take the path on the left, which climbs steeply. You will come to a crossroads once you reach the plateau.

(20) Turn right onto the path that leads towards the woods. Cross the woods as you descend into the Renarde valley towards Souzy-la-Briche. You will arrive at a riding centre.

(21) Continue straight ahead on the road that runs alongside a wall on your right, then take the path on the left that climbs one last time, quite steeply, up to the plateau. Continue straight ahead across the plateau to reach the hamlet of Petite Beauce, at the D132.

(22) Turn right at an acute angle onto the road. Continue straight ahead when the road turns right. After 400 metres, turn left onto a road that leads to two campsites.

(23) When the road turns right to reach the entrance to the second campsite, take the path that goes into the woods and down into the Orge valley. Reach the Mirgaudon neighbourhood at the bottom.

(24) Turn left onto Rue de Chantropin, then right onto Rue du Gué. Cross the Orge river and continue straight ahead until you reach the railway tracks. Follow the road to the left to reach the station, which can be accessed on the right via an underpass beneath the tracks (E).

Return: Saint-Chéronstation , on the Dourdan branch of the RER C.
