The starting point is on the D528 road, which leaves Chevaigné in the direction of Melesse, where the road crosses the Ille and Rance Canal. Parking is available on both sides of the canal.
(S/E) Leave the bridge that crosses the canal and take the towpath southwards on the right bank. You are now on the west side of the canal, opposite the bed of the Ille. Pass the parking area and continue to the first bend in the canal on your left. A path branches off to the right just before the row of birch trees that borders the towpath a little further on.
(1) Take this path on the right. It climbs slightly through woods, still heading south. At the edge of the woods, the path turns sharply to the right and follows a sunken path uphill, heading north-west. Climb the hill, where the view then opens up. At the crossroads with the Route de Betton, continue straight ahead towards La Fricaussière.
At the hamlet, turn left at the stone wall, before the first house. Find the sunken path which, a little further on, turns right to finish climbing the hill. At the top, you will come to a crossroads with a perpendicular path.
(2) At the trail junction, turn right and head north. Follow the sunken path that leads to the D528. Cross the road and continue straight ahead, still heading north. Further on, stay on the edge of the path and leave the woods on your right.
After starting to descend, the path turns right between the fields and eventually joins a road. Continue downhill, keeping to the right on the road, to reach the stone bridge over the Ille and Rance Canal.
(3) Cross the stone bridge and continue along the road. It crosses the Ille and climbs up towards the railway line. A paved path branches off to the right along the edge of the railway line.
(2 possible variants: see below.)
(4) Turn right onto this track, which descends and takes you back to the starting point. Despite the signs, there are no restrictions on using this track.
(5) Cross the bridge over the Ille to return to the starting point at the canal bridge (S/E).
