Departure from the Auberge de la Huhnelmuhle (Scherwiller).
On the wine route between Châtenois and Scherwiller, leave the RD35 in a sharp bend with an oratory, heading towards Ortenbourg - Ramstein + Huhnelmuhle. Continue along the road and park near the inn.
(S/E) Continue along the cycle path for a few metres (ignore the path opposite the inn) then take the path on the right towards Ramstein, marked with a red rectangleGR®5 sign. Further on, the path climbs in hairpin bends and passes an old chapel.

(1) At a three-way junction, continue on the path on the right (ignore the path that descends), marked with a red disc signpost for Ramstein Ortenbourg + Chemin des châteaux forts d'Alsace (red castle sign). Further up, the path turns right.
(2) Leave the path to make a loop passing by the Ramstein ruins (no sign). Rocky promontory with a view of Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle. Continue to Ortenbourg Castle. Walk around to enter the castle, beautiful view of the plain.
(3) Retrace your steps to find the path towards Bernstein (at the castle exit, ignore the path marked with a red triangle and blue cross).
(4) Pass a horse riding centre with picnic tables and follow the forest path to the left.
(5) At the next intersection, leave the forest path (three-way junction) and follow the path on the right uphill. Join a forest path and follow it.
(6) Pass the Rehhag crossroads and continue straight ahead to the Krieghurst crossroads.
(7) Continue straight ahead on the forest road uphill towards Bernstein.
(8) Enter Bernstein Castle and climb the tower to the platform. Panoramic view of the Alsace plain.
Blue signpost
Retrace your steps and take the path opposite, towards Bellevue. The path winds upwards.
(9) When you reach a forest path, continue to the left, then at the next three-way junction, stay on the path on the right.
(10) Make a round trip to the Bellevue rock. At the next three-way junction, stay on the left-hand path.
Cross a forest path and continue straight ahead. The trail follows a ridge.

(11) At the Stangenberg crossroads, continue straight ahead towards Huhnelmuhle.
At the next three-way junction, turn right then left (ignore the path marked with a yellow triangle that descends).
When you reach the Hagelstein rock, the trail turns right. Cross a forest path and continue straight ahead. The trail winds down to Falkenstein.
(12) Make a round trip to Falkenstein Rock. Continue along the path winding down to the left.
Further down, cross a forest path and continue straight ahead.
At the Gallienstein rock, continue to the right. Then take a long descent in a straight line to rejoin a forest path in a bend.
(13) Follow it straight downhill, along a stream, to reach the cycle path.
(14) Follow it to the left towards Huhnelmuhle. After about 2.8 km, you will return to the starting point (S/E).
