The circular routes of the Chapelles route south of Plestin-les-Grèves

This is an easy walk, except for the distance, which combines sunken paths and wide forest lanes, as well as chapels and castles, not to mention streams and brooks, with the English Channel as a backdrop.

Description of the walk

Departure from the Lycée du Penker car park.

(S/E) At the car park exit, head south on Rue des Écoles and immediately take the first street on the right, Rue du Moulin du Porjou. Ignore a housing estate entrance on the left.

(1) Take the next path on the left. This runs alongside the Dour Meur stream. At the first fork, turn right and cross the stream via a wooden footbridge. Continue along the path until it meets a road.

(2) Follow the road to the right and after 100 metres, take the road on the left. Pass the Ker Rolland campsite on your right. At the crossroads, turn left to cross Rugregon.

(3) Before the entrance to Lesmaës Castle (private property), follow the path on the left until you reach a road. Turn right onto the road and continue along it.

(4) When the road curves to the right, take the path on the left and after 20 metres, turn left. Walk south until you reach a road after a wide curve to the left.

(5) Turn right onto the road, then take the path on the left before the houses. Continue along this path, then at the end of it, take the road on the right for about 50 metres.

(6) Take the path on the left and, when it leads to a road, turn right, almost making a U-turn. Follow the road and cross Saint-Jagut.

(7) Take the first path on the right. At the end, turn left and then take the road on the right (this small detour allows you to stay on forest paths rather than walking on a road).

(8) At the fork, turn right and after 30 metres, take the path on the left. At the end, turn left. Follow this path to Landroguez, where it veers to the right and then leads to a road in Kérezou.

(9) Continue on the left, cross Keranteurnier and at Convenant Férec, turn left and continue on this road.

(10) Take the path on the right, which leads to Sainte-Anne. Continue straight on to Kerbiriou. On the road, turn left and walk a little over 100 metres.

(11) Take the path on the right, cross the stream again via a wooden footbridge and, when you reach a wash house on the left, take the road on the right which continues as a path on the right after the first house.

(12) After a sharp right turn, ignore a path on the left and continue straight ahead. The path becomes a road. Continue along it until you reach an intersection you passed on the way there.

(2) Turn right to follow the same path as on the way there, remembering to turn left at the intersection of the paths and then right onto Route du Moulin to go back up to the car park (S/E).

Notes

Throughout the route, we follow the directions given by the wooden signs marked "Circuit des Chapelles" (Chapel Route), but we walk along different circular loops of this route (Sainte-Anne loop, Saint Roch loop and Saint-Jagut loop). This is why they are not indicated in the description. However, for those who want to discover them, below is a link to the brochure published by the Lieu de Grèves Tourist Office, which describes the different circular loops.

Between (6) and (8) and then between (12) and (2), the route follows theGR®34D.

Very pleasant route, almost entirely on paths. Very pretty scenery, a guaranteed change of scenery. Highly recommended.
Use of the GPX track is recommended because, as mentioned in previous comments, many paths cross and there is therefore a possibility of error.

A very beautiful route that takes us through the undergrowth, the woods with their stream, farm tracks and the castle driveway, which is private but open to hikers. It's worth checking out the GR34 trail, which is much more pleasant than taking the road, which is very busy in this area. The trail is very well marked, but it's easy to get lost as several trails intersect, which is why it's a good idea to have the app with you. The route takes us to two chapels.

We got the hike wrong because we followed the chapel route, which has nothing to do with this hike. You really need to look carefully at each stage of the hike. So I can't judge the Visorando hike, but the chapel route we did was uninteresting. We thought we would see several chapels, but apart from St Anne's Chapel, there are no others on the route.

A pleasant hike, but a bit confusing on the way back, resulting in 17 kilometres instead of the planned 12.5!

In fact, my wife and I did the Saint-Anne Chapel route, as the route suggested by Visorando is longer.
The Saint Anne route is interesting, but there is a section on a tarmac road that is less interesting. Of note is the interesting Saint Gestin fountain, which has been beautifully landscaped and decorated with flowers by the local Plestin association.
