Description of the walk

(S/E) From the car park at the small port of Toul An Héry, head towards the bridge that leads to Locquirec.
Please note that there are no pavements and the road is quite busy with traffic.

(1) Before the bridge, in a bend, there is a fork with a sign on the left for the Saint-Haran circular route. Take this road and continue to the next intersection. Take the road on the right, which ends in a cul-de-sac at a small car park with an information board about the local wildlife.
On your left, you will see the start of the trail with a sign for the Route des Chapelles. From there, follow these signs and those with a yellow arrow on a green background.

(2) At the top of this first small hill, there is a picnic table with a superb view of the Douron.
Continue along the path, keeping the Douron on your right and ignoring the paths on your left.

(3) You will arrive at the Saint-Haran rest and hiking area. The Chapel of Saint-Haran is less than 100 metres away on your left. Continue straight ahead and follow the signs.

(4). Cross the Moulin de Moualhic road and continue along the path to Pont Menou, where the path joins a tarmac road.

(5) Pass between the houses, turn left and go up this small hill. After a house at the top of the hill on your left, at the sign, turn onto a path and follow it.

(6) After a house, the path turns into a Breton sunken lane. You will pass under a footbridge and arrive at a tarmac road. Continue straight ahead, where you will see another sign.

(7) At the next crossroads, you will find yourself opposite the Chapel of Saint-Haran, on your left. Continue straight ahead, then, after a farm, turn right. The road becomes a path between fields, then to the left. At one point, the path is no longer very visible and you may feel like you are walking in the middle of a field, but you are on the right track. You will come to another tarmac road. Turn left and, at the next intersection, turn left again. There is a sign, then turn right towards the water treatment plant.

(8) Just before the treatment plant, there is a sign about the local wildlife and the path is on the left. Walk along the ponds and then the Dour Meur river to reach the small car park

(2). Take the tarmac road in the opposite direction to the one you took on the way there to return to the car park at Port de Toul An Héry (S/E).

A beautiful walk along wooded paths bordering the banks of the Douron. A wonderful way to discover this river, whose level varies with the tides.
The signposting is very clear and easy to follow, making for an easy hike with beautiful scenery.

Great route, very well signposted.
Our small group was delighted with the hike, and the short coffee break at the Fontaine de ST Haran was also much appreciated.
The walk up the Douron valley at low tide was a delight for photographers, and on top of all that, we had great weather – cold but dry, ideal for walking.
We can only recommend this route...
