Park in the car park along Saint-Efflam beach, on Avenue de la Lieue de Grève (D786).
(S/E) Head west along the road or the grassy verge running alongside the coast (signs with photographs were present when we visited); note the beautiful houses on the left. Turn left at the first street, pass by the beautiful Saint-Efflam Fountain (the Saint-Efflam Chapel, accessible via the steps above the fountain, is relatively recent and, in my opinion, of little interest), continue straight on along the street and then along the footpath until you reach the D786. Follow it to the right, staying on the right-hand pavement until you reach the junction (sign marking the entrance to the town of Plestin).
(1) Turn right onto the D42, following the left-hand verge, then take the second road on the left, towards Traon an Dour (among other directions). Follow this small road, ignoring a dead end on the right further on, and you’ll soon reach a junction with a wash house and a pretty house.
(2) Carry on, keeping to the right along Impasse de Kergavarec, then, after about 100 metres, take a path on the left which leads into the woodland. A little further on, take a short detour to the left to the site of the Sainte-Barbe Fountain. On your return, continue to the left and you will soon reach the Sainte-Barbe Chapel.
(3) Carry on straight ahead, carefully cross the busy road to reach a hiking signpost on the banks of the Douron estuary. Follow the GR®34 Red and White marked coastal path straight on towards Saint-Efflam. The path climbs and leads to the ancient Roman baths at Hogolo (information boards).
(4) Continue along the coastal path, which merges with a road leading to the Grève des Curés car park. Walk along the left-hand side of the car park, keeping an eye out for the coastal path which branches off to the left.
(5) Take this path and continue along the cliff path.
(6) Pass Pointe de Plestin. Then walk along a short tarmac section near the access to Porz Mellec Beach before rejoining the path.
(7) Pass Pointe de Beg Douar, where you’ll also follow a short stretch of tarmac by the car park before rejoining the path.
(8) Another short stretch of tarmac at a place called Toulinet; rejoin the path at the bend in the road. You’ll eventually reach the end of a street in Saint-Efflam; continue straight on to return to your car park (S/E).
