Description of the walk

The start is in Bourgmenu, near a transformer. The hamlet of Bourgmenu is located just over 1km from Saint-Andéol.

(S/E) Climb the tarmac road towards the cliffs (west) for about 50 metres. At the first bend, take the path on the left. Pass above a building and climb westwards through fields and forests. At a fork, turn left (south-west).

(1) Cross a forest track at an altitude of 1,190 metres. The path continues to climb, curving to the left. Leave a path on the left and cross another forest track (1,290 metres). Continue climbing.

(2) At an altitude of 1390m, look for the path that branches off to the left (do not take the logging track in front of you). This pleasant path leads you to the Abri de la Peyrouse via a good twenty hairpin bends.

(3) Turn right onto the Périmètre trail, following the contour line. Walk along the magnificent limestone cliffs of the eastern balcony of the Vercors.

(4) At point 1599, take the path on the left, which will lead you under the Pas Morta (ignore the path that climbs up to the left). Continue to point 1547, leaving two paths on the right.

(5) Turn right: from here, the descent is much easier than at the previous junction. The path is well marked, crosses a section of forest, and is circular, returning to a forest track (1238m).

(6) Turn right (south) and descend. At the first hairpin bend, go straight ahead. Follow the track for about 1 km and rejoin the uphill path at the junction you passed on the way up.

(1) Turn left and take the same path back to the car park (S/E).

Hello
Hike completed on 5 April 2025.
Very pleasant forest trail with a few slightly steep sections.
Snow in some places in the last part of the switchbacks, with some difficulty finding the path as there were no tracks ahead of me.
Snow at the Peyrouse shelter, so be careful when crossing the scree slopes, have good equipment and keep your feet on the ground!
VERY slippery descent in the first part.
Very beautiful hike with magnificent scenery.

At the end of June, there was no one there. You need to be in good shape for the steep climb through the forest, which has a gradient of almost 20%. At the top, there is an unpleasant section of scree, but the view is sublime. It took us 2 hours and 45 minutes.

A beautiful hike of about 9 km completed on 22/04/2024. There was a little snow on the climb and on the path near the balconies, but it wasn't a problem. The description is accurate and well documented. The estimated time seems a little generous (it took us 3 hours and 10 minutes instead of 4 hours and 30 minutes without running).

A beautiful hike completed on 11 November in fine weather. A balcony trail through scree with stunning views of the valley and mountains. The path is clearly not very well used.
However, the ascent and descent are steep and slippery at this time of year. We had some difficulty finding the path in the forest because the fallen leaves covered the trail.
We had a lovely day surrounded by nature.

Point 5 is actually point 1550
The descent is steep until you reach the forest track

A beautiful hike offering superb panoramic views of the Vercors cliffs and Mont Aiguille.
The climb up to the Peyrouse shelter and the descent are a little steep, but the section along the ridgeline is easy.
Point number 5 for the descent is not easy to find; the point is actually 1550 (the second one, as there are two) and not 1547. The GPS track is perfect.
