The route wasn’t very busy on the day of our walk (apart from locals walking their dogs!), which is a shame as it’s a lovely, easy route with beautiful views over the valley.
However, the starting point (car park) is difficult to find when coming on foot from the station.

A pleasant ride in the hills with beautiful views of Barembach and Schirmeck.
As you can see from the elevation profile, the unique feature of this route is the four relatively gentle ascents/descents.

The route is fairly well marked up to a place called La Croix Walter, but the return to the starting point is less clear, especially from Schirmeck Castle onwards.
Directions such as "head east" are not very helpful when walking without a compass in foggy weather.
Otherwise, it's a very pleasant walk and probably much busier when the weather is better.
