The Tour des Deux Seppois

The walk starts at the Place du Marché in Seppois-le-Bas, to the right of the village town hall. There is a car park with plenty of spaces available.

(S/E) From the car park, go up the steps leading to the church, passing the war memorial. Go back down and, facing the rear of the village town hall building, where the words "Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité" are inscribed, turn right. Walk past the Pôle Médical de la Largue. Just past number 9, turn right into Rue du Hummelberg. At the end of the street, ignore a path leading into the woods on the right and head down to the left. At the T-junction, turn right into Rue de Bâle, towards the bell tower.

(1) At the junction with a well, ignore Rue de la Forêt on the right and continue straight on towards Mooslargue on the D163. At a four-way junction where the village church is located, continue straight on, still heading towards Mooslargue, on the D7bis. Walk past the village hall and ignore Rue Georges Muller.

(2) Just before passing under a bridge, turn right and, just before entering private land, climb the steps on the left to join a cycle path on the bridge. Once on the bridge, turn left to cross over the D7bis and continue straight on to the Largue.

(3) Cross the river and continue along the cycle path, which curves slightly to the left. Pass a barrier and a sign showing walking routes, then walk past a cemetery. Just after the cemetery, the path climbs to the left and joins the main road.

(4) At the Stop sign, leave the bridge over the Largue and the entrance to the village of Seppois-le-Haut on your left, then carefully cross the road to continue opposite, following the Yellow Rectangle signs towards Seppois-le-Bas. Walk past a beach soccer pitch, go through a gate and enter the forest.

(5) Back in the village, walk past the École Lambert then continue straight on at the Give Way sign. At the end of Impasse des Carpières, at the Stop sign, continue straight on and walk past the village campsite and its secondary school. At the very end of this street, at the Stop sign, carefully cross the road to the pavement on the opposite side, then leave the Yellow Rectangle sign on your right and turn left towards the centre. Walk past a wayside shrine and along a petrol station. Cross the Largue.

(6) Take the next road on the right (D7bis) towards Ueberstrass, into Rue de Dannemarie. Ignore Rue de la Largue, which turns right, and continue up the sloping road to the left. Ignore Rue des Jardins on your left, then carefully cross the road at the pedestrian crossing to reach the opposite pavement. Turn into the road that goes uphill opposite house number 14A. Continue to the end of the road, ignoring Rue du Père Stern.

(7) At the T-junction, turn left into Rue de Stockackerweg, staying on the tarmac path. Walk past a farm. At the end of this street, at the T-junction, carefully cross the main road using the pedestrian crossing to reach the opposite pavement, then turn left.

(8) At the junction where there is a war memorial dedicated to the Groupe Mobile d'Alsace, turn right. Then ignore Rue du Gobenwald and turn right again into Rue du Réservoir. A little further on, ignore Rue des Pinsons, which turns left, and enter the forest.

(9) Go through a gate. Ignore a path that turns right as you pass a small building. Continue straight on at the four-way junction where forest plots 8 and 10 are located. A few hundred metres further on, go through a gate and then, at the T-junction, turn left. A few steps further on, ignore a path that runs alongside a fence on the right. Immediately after this, at the edge of the forest, there is an information board and a narrow path marked by red paint on the trees. Take this path.

(10) After a few wooden posts marking the path, it turns sharply right and then descends steeply. At the bottom of this path, at the four-way junction, turn completely left. After fitness station number 5 on the fitness trail, pass a small building on your left and continue straight on at the four-way junction. A few hundred metres further on, leave the forest by passing through a gate.

(11) Once you reach the village, turn right into Rue Édouard Braun. Ignore Impasse des Merles on the left and head diagonally down to the right. At the four-way junction, turn right into Rue des Étangs. At number 16, the street turns sharply left. At the end of this street, at the Stop sign, turn right. Ignore Rue du Général Bataille and continue downhill towards the bell tower. Walk past the Résidence Heimelig and the École la Mominette and its car park. Finally, walk past the presbytery just before reaching Place du Marché (S/E).

Between points (1) and (3), to reach the cycle path, you must climb a few steps and pass through a gate that is not open. However, it is relatively easy to get through and is by no means part of private property.

At point number (3), just before crossing the Largue, there is a path sloping down to the left, running alongside the cycle path. At the bottom of this path, marked by information boards indicating the location of a former station, there is a small wooden bridge and an area with two picnic tables.

Between points (9) and (10), as you pass through the gate to reach the edge of the forest, there is a picnic table on the left-hand bend.
