At Madrague de Montredon, park at the side of the road where there are plenty of spaces available for cars.
(S/E) Climb the embankment opposite the parking spaces to find a wide uphill track. Follow it for about 300 m to reach a crossroads where you turn left and then quickly right onto a small path that begins to climb quite steeply.
(1) At the intersection of the twoGR® trails, which you will find again on the way back, take the left-hand trail and continue climbing, keeping to the right. The climb to Col Moutte is very strenuous. Enjoy the view.
(2) Take the path heading south towards Col des Chèvres.
(3) At this pass, enjoy the view of Marseille and the islands to the south before taking the south-east path (left at the fork) which will take you to the "roof" of the day: the summit of Marseilleveyre.
(4) The view is splendid on both sides of the summit.
We take the opportunity to have a picnic and enjoy the magnificent sunshine on this autumn day.
Then it's time to set off. We descend via theGR® heading south-west, ignoring the few paths that branch off to the right and left. It's straight ahead (so to speak) and you can't go wrong.
(5) At this point, we continue the descent, keeping to the right, and quickly arrive at the junction of twoGR® trails.
(6) Take the one on the right. Continue until you reach another junction. This path offers magnificent views of the rocks of Les Goudes and Saint-Michel.
(7) Turn right and you will find yourself on theGR® 98. Continue for 300 metres, then turn right onto theGR®51.
(8) At this new intersection, go straight ahead in a north-easterly direction. Continue on theGR® for about 700 metres.
(9) At this point, you can either:
- either climb the marked passage on the right and shorten the distance
- or go around it by continuing north (choice on the route). You are now on the Chemin du Président (path in memory of Antoine Pellice, president of the Marseille excursionists from 1911 to 1940).
Continue along this long, sometimes uneven path, ignoring theGR® trail on the right that takes you back to Col Moutte. This will bring you back to the trail you started on.
(1) We descend straight ahead and retrace our steps in the opposite direction to return to the cars and arrive at (E).
Many thanks to Michel Ceard for this beautiful hike.
You are in the Calanques National Park, which is subject to
