Park at the bridge at the entrance to Ponsan-Soubiran (municipal campsite).
(S/E) Cross the Petite Baïse bridge and pass in front of the church of Ponsan-Soubiran.
(1) Turn right and walk along the castle grounds. Just after the first house, turn left and walk up into the Hagéde woods for 2 km. Reach the hamlet of Bernet by turning left at the edge of the woods. Turn left and walk past the Château de Bernet (19th century, which replaced an older manor house) and its church.
(2) At an intersection, turn right, then left towards Monlaur-Bernet (700 metres), crossing the irrigation aqueduct twice. Arrive at the village of Monlaur-Bernet and go around the church on the right.
(3) Head left and continue straight ahead along a white gravel path for 500 metres, which leads to the Chapelle Saint-Roch (a small rural sanctuary built on the highest point in the Gers, at 337 metres). Continue, passing two paths on the right, and join the tarmaced municipal road (D150).
(4) Go downhill to the right for 200 metres along the road, then turn left at the bend onto a path that runs alongside a copse.
(5) At the bottom, turn left and walk along a meadow to the Roques farm. Opposite, take a path that descends 700m towards the village of Ponsan-Soubiran. On the road, turn right and follow the same path back to the bridge (S/E).
, particularly of the Pyrenees, some beautiful buildings (Bernet Castle, Saint-Roch Chapel, etc.) and numerous picnic spots. The only slight downside is that the signage is a little poor in places, but the route description and map more than make up for this. We recommend it!
