The Sioux trail in Cervières

For a multi-faceted walk in the Vallée des Fonts de Cervières:
- a wide path along the edge of the Cerveyrette,
- an arrival point featuring not teepees, but remarkable chalets,
- an impressive view of the Pic du Lombard summit,
- and above all, a delicious meal at the Refuge des Fonts,
this is an interesting idea for a pleasant day out.

Description of the walk

Park in the large dirt car park located shortly after Prafauchier and the Saint-Claude Chapel.

(S/E) Take the wide track called Sentier des Sioux, cross the Cerveyrette on a wide footbridge, then walk along the left bank of this river. Cross it again further on and, on the right bank, reach a new footbridge at the foot of the Lac des Cordes trail.

(2) Cross back to the left bank and tackle a short, easy climb, walking through the woods to reach afourth footbridge. Return to the right bank and, a few metres further on, you will reach the Refuge des Fonts de Cervières.

(3) Retrace your steps to return to the Prafauchier car park (S/E).

A pleasant, easy hike.
There are still a few patches of snow on either side of the path, which adds to the charm.
The arrival at "Les Fonds" is lovely, creating a majestic snow-covered mountain setting
The hamlet is deserted today. The old houses reflect the tranquillity of the remote setting...
Return via the road to avoid retracing our steps along the same route, which allows us to see the landscape from a different perspective.
We passed two cars at this time of year.
A marmot posed for a photo when we arrived at the car park.
