The Sentier des Roches

The Sentier des Roches is a hiking trail in the Vosges mountains.
In 1910, Heinrich Strohmeyer, general warden of the Water and Forestry Department and president of the Club Vosgien de Munster, proposed the creation of a trail linking the Col de Schlucht to Frankenthal near Hohneck.
The Sentier des Roches is one of the most popular trails in the Vosges mountains.
Please note: this hike is closed in winter (see practical information below).

A very beautiful hike that ended at 8:30 p.m., starting at 5 p.m. from the Col de la Schlucht. It was nice and shady at that time of day, which is much appreciated during a heatwave, and we only encountered half a dozen people. High-top shoes are definitely recommended as the path is not flat. I hesitated to bring walking sticks, but in the end they would not have been practical for holding onto the handrail, which was sufficient in terms of safety.
Thanks and I recommend it!

Very good app and reliable for tracking your route by exporting the GPX file for use with Visorando.
The hike itself is relatively accessible despite its difficulty level. You need good shoes and a minimum level of fitness.
It's a beautiful hike with great views of the surrounding valley.

Magnificent walk to do in fine weather for the scenery. Very fun with its passages on the mountainside. In winter, there is a lot of wind at the top of the Hohneck. This hike is for children aged 8 and over, as it can be dangerous below this age.

Hello,
The section between the Martinswand and point 7 is on the old gr, which is no longer authorised. The path is no longer signposted, so users have to climb over a fence and contravene nature reserve regulations.
Could you please make the change and shift the trail a few metres along the official GR route?
Thank you for your help.

The first part of the route is dangerous because it is empty and there are lots of rocks ... Fortunately there are handrails
handrails. Magnificent views, very nice walk overall. No major difficulties except
the rock steps, which are high enough for small people.

The rock path is very well secured with high-quality handrails (thanks to the Club Vosgien de Munster). Accessible to all good hikers. Warning: no children too young, as the rock steps are sometimes very high. Dogs are not allowed.
We did it just before the 6-month closure (1 November to 30 April). Great sunshine, a splendid day!
Climb to the Dagobert cave, the Schaefferthal, then to the Hohneck, and finally back to the Schlucht without any difficulty.

The difficulty lies mainly at the beginning of the route, starting from the schlucht, for around 3 km, with a narrow path in the cliff with footbridges and handrails in places, and lots of rock .... For the rest of the hike, these are mountain paths.
Equipped and respectful of others, this is a superb hike....

Good footwear is essential, as some passages are difficult. It's not a good idea to bring children or people who are afraid of heights.
The route is magnificent.

A very pleasant route, but one that is nevertheless well travelled. Some tricky sections for young children.

A route with beautiful panoramas and sometimes impressive sections, but accessible to as many hikers as possible and well secured.
It was busy at the end of August, but reasonably so, with no discomfort.

Very nice hike on a Sunday, so lots of people on the circuits.
I recommend it because of the beautiful scenery and the forest circuit followed by an open trail.

A beautiful route, a must-see in the region. But VERY (too) busy!

Unmissable is synonymous with too busy. It's the magic word that attracts the crowds. People complain that it's too crowded, but they themselves are part of the crowd. What can I say?
