Description of the walk

:Park in the Col de la Schlucht car park, on the D417.

(S/E) Follow the path starting between the Hôtel du Chalet and the chairlift, marked with a Red Rectangle; this is theGR® 5. Head to the junction with the road leading to the Lodge des Trois Fours.

(1) Pass the refuge on your left and stay on theGR® to reach the Col de Falimont

(3) Keep left on theGR® and follow a fairly steep climb to the summit of Hohneck and its orientation table.

(3) Continue along the Red Rectangle on the other side of the summit to reach the junction at the Col du Schaeferthal.

(4) Leave theGR®5here and take an unmarked track, emerging into a meadow before reaching the summit of Petit Hohneck.

(5) Descend alongside the ski lifts towards the village of Gaschney below, until you reach a path on the hillside.

(6) Turn left onto it and follow the Blue Triangle markings to reach a road. Turn right and head for the junction with the Sentier de la Bloy.

(7) Turn left onto this path, which is marked with a Blue Rectangle; this is theGR® 531. Follow it, first through the woods and then over a few more challenging sections across rocky terrain. You will arrive at the Frankenthal junction.

(8) Continue along theGR® to reach the start of the Sentier des Roches further on.

(9) Take it to the left and stay on theGR® (marked with a Blue Rectangle). Ignore the Blue Triangle path which crosses theGR®, and continue until you reach the start of the rocky sections.

(10) Start here; this section is steep but well equipped with steps, ladders, handrails and footbridges. Continue on to return, via a final flight of steps, to the Col de la Schlucht car park (S/E).

A beautiful variation on the trails around Hohneck, offering a wide variety of landscapes and terrain.
The duration of 6 hours and 15 minutes is reasonable, including the various stops.
