(S/E) From the car park at Place du Champ Pilé, take the small path behind the church, then continue along Rue de la Fontaine and turn right into Rue des Cerisiers. Walk alongside orchards and gardens.
Continue uphill along a white path until you reach the D72. Cross the road and take the path on the right.
(1) At the Griviaude crossroads, turn left and climb uphill, following the hedge of trees and shrubs. Enter the forest.
Turn left onto Voie Creuse, a sunken path that climbs steadily to the line known as Sommière des Pommiers. This line crosses the entire Essarts plateau.
(2) Turn left onto the Sommière des Pommiers for 100 metres, then turn onto the path on the right.
Continue in this direction for about 500 metres, with a first turn to the right then to the left and a second turn to the left then to the right.
(3) At the Essarts crossroads, turn right onto the Val de Gloire path for 2 km.
This sunken path, which separates the commune of Bouilly on the right and Laines-aux-Bois on the left, follows theGR®2, theGR® de Pays Tour des Forêts d'Othe.
(4) At the Val de Gloire crossroads, turn right onto the marked white-green path that climbs uphill.
(5) At the Charbonnière crossroads, turn sharply right to follow the path that winds its way to the other end of the Sommière des Pommiers.
(6) Do not follow the Sommière des Pommiers path, but turn left at the corner of the large oak tree.
(7) Leave the Gué des Moutons on your left. Then descend, take the hillside path for 150 metres and descend again on the right.
(8) Leave the forest with a bird's eye view of Bouilly.
(9) Just after the large copse on the right, take the path on the right.
Then descend towards the church, going around the vineyard on the right. Continue in the same direction along Rue du Pressoir, past the Bouilly secondary school sports field.
Return to Place du Champ Pilé (S/E).
