The Motte de Notre-Dame de Lorette trail

A very beautiful walk starting from Marqueffles, in the commune of Bouvigny-Boyeffles, leading to Notre-Dame de Lorette.
Along the way, you’ll enjoy two superb panoramic views: one towards the ruins of Mont Saint-Éloi, and on the other side, the mining basin will unfold before you. A few forest paths and magnificent trees will line your route.

A lovely route. The first few metres are tricky as the path is used for timber harvesting, which creates deep ruts and quite a bit of mud. Best done in dry weather

Many trees have been blown down by the storm, but the path is still passable

It’s true that the area has been badly affected by the wind. I recently posted another route where there’s actually a tree blocking one of the paths, making it impossible to use.

Hello,
A lovely walk, though it’s a shame that the bad weather has knocked many trees over, so you sometimes have to step carefully over the trunks.

I’m really pleased to read a comment – and a positive one at that. Yes, it’s a lovely walk, though naturally, with the section through the forest, you’ll find yourself wading through mud during the wetter months. Thank you for your feedback. To post additional photos, go to the route page and, below the ‘big button’ to customise the PDF, there is a small link labelled: ‘more photos of this route’. All you need to do is follow the instructions, which are very straightforward.

Wishing you many more lovely walks with Visorando.
I’ve just published a new one in the same area, which is quite nice too. It starts at the foot of the tall mast (307m, which is 7m taller than the Eiffel Tower without its antennas): The Upper Woodlands of Bouvigny-Boyeffles from the Tall Mast

We had just one minor hiccup at the start, as we’d done the walk in the wrong direction. There was a lot of mud at the start (which meant it was the finish for us) as we were walking through the forest. After that, the gravel paths—which are quite busy with cyclists on Sundays—wind through lovely countryside. A stop at Notre-Dame de Lorette provides a chance to learn a bit of history. We’d love to do it again, but the right way round this time.

I’d like to attach a few photos. How do I do that? Thanks
