The Rosinel Felse and the Soultzbach Waterfall from Urmatt

There is no large car park in this part of Urmatt. You will need to find a space near the starting point, ideally on the heights of Rue de Molsheim or even higher up towards the Maison Forestière. Please respect private property, driveways, etc.

(S/E) At No. 46 Rue de Molsheim, near a conifer tree and a cross, begin the climb on the paved road with multiple markings, passing in front of a fountain and the Maison Forestière d'Urmatt. At the edge of the village, take the wide Route Forestière du Kappelbronn, which climbs very slightly. Keep to the right on this road until you reach a shelter and a fork in the road about a hundred metres further on.

(1) Turn left onto the Heidthal Forest Road. Pass the Fluid Stone sculpture and continue along this gently ascending forest road, ignoring the crossroads. At the junction (IGN 332) where the Anneau Bleu marked trail branches off to the left, keep right for a few hundred metres until you reach the start of a trail that veers to the right.

(2) Leave the forest road and climb the path marked with a red disc towards the Molsheim Rock, the Rosinel Felse. This zigzag path takes you close to the rocks. To reach the summit, follow the sign for "Sommet par les roches" (Summit via the rocks), or continue along the marked path.

(3) At the summit, enjoy the view of Urmatt, then continue along a relatively flat path through the forest (still following the red disc). After a straight stretch heading north-west, turn right for a steeper descent. The same markings are clearly visible. You will reach the Kappelbronn forest road again.

(4) Turn right and walk about a hundred metres, then turn left onto a steeply descending path. Follow the same markings. You will come to a T-junction.

(5) Turn left. You will begin to hear and see the stream, then the waterfall. You will arrive at a crossroads near the Soultzbach waterfall.

(6) Walk a few metres along a path that climbs to the left to see the waterfall from above (limited interest, steep and unsecured rocks). Return to the junction.

(6) Turn left to begin the descent on the forest road to the car park. The Soultzbach stream is still on your left. Continue on the right bank until you reach a bridge at a place called "Wald Einsamkeit".

(7) Note the metal oratory. Stay on the right bank; at times you can get close to the stream, which is almost level with the road. There is also a pond, the Salzloch. Finally, pass in front of a riding centre before arriving at the village and returning to the car park (S/E).
