The Mévonne Refuge

Treat yourself to an invigorating break in the heart of nature.

Take a shaded forest trail for a refreshing hike, lulled by the murmur of a stream and the discreet song of birds. The rocky walls that line the trail will remind you of the quiet power of the mountains.

The climb, which is steady from the car park to the refuge, invites you to take your time. It starts off gently, giving way to a more challenging section shortly before the end — a final rewarding effort before reaching your destination, nestled in the heart of nature.

Description of the walk

Start at the Gorges du Pont du Diable car park.

(S/E) Go up the road that starts opposite the car park, behind the sign for "Le Jotty". Head towards Mévonne. A few metres further on, the path becomes a forest track suitable for vehicles.

(1) Follow the main track opposite you throughout the hike until you reach the Refuge de Mévonne.

(2) At the end of the climb, the forest thins out. A small path on the right leads to the Refuge de Mévonne.

(3) Return by the same route to the car park at the Gorges du Pont du Diable (S/E).

Nice hike with a steep climb at the end. 200 metres over the last 800 metres.
Gravel path and shaded almost all the way
It took us 1.5 hours to climb and 1 hour to descend. We are not experienced hikers.
There aren't many views during the walk, but you're rewarded at the end with a lovely little private refuge.
The spring was almost dry throughout.
There is a small fountain.
