Park in the car park above Les Changeas, on the edge of the forest, accessible from the RD18 near Saint-Jeures, at the junction signposted ‘Le Lizieux-Les Changeas’.
(S/E) Take the path down towards the south-east to reach the crossroads before the hamlet of La Besseat.
(1) Turn right onto the uphill path. A new path has been marked out which branches off immediately to the left; this allows you to avoid the main track and leads to the summit.
(2) If you have stayed on the main track, take the path on the left; it is not very visible, but a small cairn and my pink or blue markings indicate it.
Reach the summit of the Suc de Mounier.
(3) Head back down the western side along a narrow track until you reach the forest road.
(4) Turn left onto the path heading south-east. A few metres further on, you’ll rejoin the forest road. After the crossroads at the hamlet of La Vialette, you’ll come to another crossroads of paths.
(5) Turn left onto the path, ignoring the Milandon junction, and continue straight ahead to reach the car park providing access to the Pic du Lizieux from the east. This is the Bataille car park.
(6) Follow the signposts to the right towards the summit.
(7) Begin the descent down the western slope. You will soon come to a Y-junction.
(8) Leave the yellow signposted route and keep left onto the direct track. Further on, you’ll reach the junction with the PR® marked in yellow. Take this straight ahead and follow it all the way to the car park near Chièze.
(9) Head due north and very quickly leave the PR® to the left to head into the woods. Stay on the path at all times, ignoring the branches to the right and left. Follow a circular route to reach a four-way junction.
(10) Take the fairly steep descent along the path straight ahead down to the forest road, then first turn left then right to rejoin a wide track. Cross this and continue until you reach another junction with several paths near a spring.
(11) Head slightly to the left, then a few metres further on turn left again, heading north downhill. Stay on this path, keeping as far to the right as possible, to return to the starting point (S/E).
