Via Gebennensis - Pic du Lizieux - Knoll des Testavoyre

Depart from the northern area of Meygal aux Quatre Routes. Reach the junction of the D42 and D18 near Piallevialles. Park on the D18.

(S/E) Follow the^GR®65-^GR®430trail (Via Gebennensis - Geneva - Le Puy - Chemin de Saint-Jacques). Cross the D42 and take the^GR® opposite, which descends into the meadows.
You will arrive near Loucel - Les Barrys, at the crossroads.

(1) Leave the GR^®. Turn right towards Reygnier to reach the Auze stream.

(2) Cross the stream and immediately turn left onto the small road that runs alongside the Auze. Take the first road on the right (Théoule) which, after a few metres, goes straight up. Pass the last house, where the road ends. Continue along the Laderette path which goes uphill and reaches a crossroads.

(3) Take the path on the left and turn right at the next junction. Continue for about 200 metres until you reach a forest road.

(4) Turn left onto the forest road. At the next 5 or 6 crossroads, stay on this path for about 2 km.

(5) At this junction, take the path on the right (320° turn) and 500m further on, turn left (300° turn). Continue straight ahead to reach the road leading to the car park and the chalet.
Leave the road and continue straight ahead for 300 metres.

(6) Climb up to the right via the Bonas discovery trail, which is signposted and marked (sometimes yellow, sometimes blue).
Climb up to the right along this trail, which will take you to the summit of Pic du Lizieux. Reach the orientation table.

(7) Take the descent via the Bonas discovery trail.

(8) At the first junction, turn right onto the forest path and continue to the forest road.

(9) Turn left and continue until you reach the discovery trail car park on your left. Continue on to Chièze.

(10) In Chièze, there is a superb building on the right. At the crossroads, continue straight ahead on the road and, at the next crossroads, turn right onto a grassy path.
Be careful at the three-way junction: continue left, ignore the path on the left and join the road and the first houses of Arnissac on the left.

(11) Turn left again until you reach a three-way junction. Go down to the right between the houses, heading generally west. At the first crossroads, continue left, then after about 150 metres, turn right for a few metres and quickly turn left to take the path that passes under a tree-lined avenue. You will reach a dead-end road.

(12) At the crossroads, turn right towards the sports field. At the cross, continue straight ahead and after 150 metres, turn left onto the path towards the Ruisseau de l'Auze. Cross the bridge over the stream and continue to the Les Ribes crossroads. Turn right and then right again at the next crossroads.
Join the D42 and cross it. Continue for about 250 metres, then turn left and head towards the houses in Le Bronchet.

(13) At the houses, turn right onto the path that begins to climb. At the junction towards Les Rioux, continue straight ahead. The slope becomes steeper.
At the next crossroads, turn left, then pass the path on the right and continue along the path that forms a circular route. Continue for about 200 metres and take the path on the right (it descends slightly). Cross another path and you will reach another crossroads with a small turning area. Continue almost straight ahead along a straight path to a forest hut and a crossroads (1,353 metres above sea level).

(14) Take the second forest path on the left and you will reach another forest hut, a car park and picnic tables.

(15) Turn right towards Knoll du Testavoyre.

(16) Descend via the path on the right to reach the^GR®40and Chalet Raffy.

(17) At the junction with the^GR® 40, turn left towards Chalet Raffy (Domaine Nordique) until you reach the Quatre Routes crossroads (towards the D18).

(18) Walk along the D18 on the^GR®65-^GR®430trail for about 1 km. Then turn left onto a path to Piallevialles and the starting point (S/E).

Wear good hiking boots and bring a rain cape.
Best done in summer, but beware of thunderstorms.

To the north is Yssingeaux and to the south is Le Puy-en-Velay.
