From Pralognan, head to Les Fontanettes and the Génépi chairlift car park.
(S/E) Go behind the chairlift departure station and take a wide track on the left that passes near a water intake. Cross a bridge and continue left on the track. After a short climb, you will reach a flat area
(1) Leave the track and take a path on the right towards the Col de la Vanoise. Zigzag between the streams of the Dard torrent. After a short crossing on the left, you will reach a fork.
(2) Leave the Col du Grand Marchet trail on your right and continue towards the Col de la Vanoise. The slope becomes steeper and the trail joins the Arcelin stream valley. You will then arrive at a small plateau with some ruins. Walk past these ruins for about 50 metres.
(3) Take a track on the left that climbs up the side towards Moriond. You will reach a small grassy plateau.
(4) Follow a path on the left to quickly reach the summit of Montrond.
(5) Return via the same path to the grassy plateau at the previous crossroads.
(4) Descend to the left, follow a few switchbacks to reach the left bank of the Glière, where you will find theGR®55, framed by two dry stone walls.
(6) Take it on the left, walk along the Glière at a distance, then cross it to reach the Refuge des Barmettes.
(7) Continue on theGR® trail, then leave it and turn left to pass under the chairlift. Cross the Torrent de la Glière again and a few steps further on you will reach a trail junction.
(8) Turn left onto this path which enters the forest. After a series of hairpin bends, you will come out onto a pasture and reach a track which joins the initial crossroads you passed on the way there.
(1) Then follow the route you took on the way there to return to the Génépi chairlift car park (S/E).
