Start at the corner by Longvilliers Town Hall. Access via the A10, take the ‘Dourdan’ exit, then the D149 towards Rambouillet, turn immediately right onto the D27 and, finally, take the first left towards Longvilliers. Park in the car park in front of the town hall, on the left-hand side of the road when approaching from the A10; do not park in the car park opposite the town hall, as this is reserved for visitors to the town hall.
Red and white markings
(S/E) With the town hall on your left and the church opposite, turn left onto theGR®®655, a small road towards Le Reculet / Petit Plessis, and walk past the school. At the three-way junction, take the wide path straight ahead (west), with a horse-riding arena on your left and a meadow on your right. After about 500m, cross the D149 road (take care, as this is a busy road). Continue along the wide path which alternates between meadows, hedgerows and woods. At the next junction, turn left onto the small road leading downhill.
(1) Facing the gate (sign for ‘Haras des Sables’), turn right and walk with a hedge of tall poplars on your left. At the next Fork in the road, take the right-hand track (dead end). After passing a house, the tarmac gives way to a path running along the edge of the woodland on your left.
(2) At the corner of a football pitch, turn left towards the Moulin Neuf (museum). Before reaching it, turn right through an opening in a wooden fence (marking the boundary of a public park) and follow the gravelled path on the left. Under the shade of the trees, walk alongside the Rémarde on your left. At a junction, turn left and cross the river via a footbridge. Continue between the two arms of the river, ignoring a concrete footbridge on the left and then another on the right. Cross the river again (there is a small waterfall on the right) and you’ll reach a pond.
(3) Walk round the pond on the right-hand side. When you reach the southern tip of the pond, leave it and turn right onto a path, cross the river again and leave the park (white gate).
(4) Turn right into Rue Beethoven. Cross two branches of the river, then turn right. At the end of the street, turn left into Rue Nuisement. Follow the road as it curves to the right (a fine house on the left, the church tower clearly visible opposite). At the next junction, temporarily leave theGR®® signposting, turn left into Rue du Bon Saint-Arnoult and walk a few dozen metres to the fountain of the same name, on the right-hand side of the street.
(5) Retrace your steps. At the junction, turn left into Rue de la Fontaine and rejoin theGR®® markings. At a small square (bar-tobacconist’s), continue straight ahead (west). At the next Fork in the road, turn left into Rue du Coq. Immediately afterwards, turn right into Ruelle Triquedame. This starts with a flight of steps leading uphill, then gives way to a footpath that runs behind the church’s chancel. At the end of the path, at the foot of a ‘turret’, turn left and head towards the church gate. Turn right into Rue de l’Eglise and emerge onto a square with numerous shops.

(6) Let theGR®®655head off to the right and turn left at a right angle into Rue des Prêtres. At the bottom of the slope, turn left.
Red and white markings
At the T-junction (Rue du Coq coming from the left), turn right and follow theGR®®1. Cross two branches of the Rémarde (old washhouse on the right).
No signposting
(7) At the junction, let theGR®®1carry on straight ahead uphill and turn left into Rue de l’Aleu. Ignore Rue du Bon Saint-Arnoult on the left. At the second stop sign (Rue Beethoven coming from the left), carry on straight ahead. Walk past some beautiful houses on the left, then the buildings of a horticultural farm on the right. Ignore the road on the left which leads down to an equestrian centre, then the road on the right which leads up to a private property.
(8) Immediately afterwards, before the sign reading ‘End of 30km/h zone’, turn left onto a path lined with hedges. Follow this path alongside woodland or meadows. When you reach a small water treatment plant, join a small road coming from the right, which you follow roughly in line with the path.
(9) After about 200m, before this road takes a sharp bend to the left as it descends, turn right onto a path which initially runs parallel to the road and is slightly elevated, then heads east-northeast, skirting a horse pasture on the left (with a solid fence) and a cultivated field on the right. At the end of the fence, continue due east along the edge of the woodland on your left. Pass a hut on the left, then note the river on your left-hand side. You will thus reach the Moulin des Echelettes.
(10) Carry on straight ahead (still heading east) along a small tarmac road. Turn right and walk uphill alongside a wider road (with a hedge between the two). At the top of the hill (memorial stone), turn left. Immediately afterwards, cross the D149 road again (take care; use the pedestrian crossing on the left-hand side and the central reservation). Continue straight ahead along a small road which, further on, is joined on the left by a tarmac path, then turn left at the corner by the Moulin de la Forge (equestrian centre). Cross the Rémarde one last time, head uphill and reach the three-way junction taken on the way out. Turn right, walk past the school and return to the starting point (S/E).

. And the poplar trees have been "cleared away", so there is now only a hedge of poplars.
