Park in the car park of the Schnepfenriedwasen ski resort.
(S/E) Take the wide path that passes just above the small lake, marked with a blue disc. At the end of this wide path, continue straight ahead, ignoring the path on the left. Continue until you reach the Platzerwaesel pass.
(1) Cross the road and take the path opposite, still marked with a blue disc, then after about 100 m at the next crossroads, continue straight ahead into the mountain pastures. Take the path on the left that climbs towards the Nonselkopf.
(2) Continue to reach Lauchenkopf.
(3) Stay on the same path, continue and reach the Col d'Oberlauchen, a large crossroads of trails.
(4) Turn right here for a few metres, then immediately left onto the Chemin des Américains, marked with a yellow rectangle. Stay on this wide, almost horizontal track to reach the Col de Lauchen.
(5) Turn around to return to the Col d'Oberlauchen crossroads.
(4) Continue straight ahead on Chemin des Américains, now marked with a blue cross. Reach the car park at the side of the D 27 road and turn left onto this road to arrive at Breitfirst, a monument commemorating the Alaskan dogs.
(6) Turn right onto the path, then veer right into the mountain pastures and reach the Y-junction of the paths at Col d'Hahnenbrunnen.
(7) Take the path marked with a red-white-red rectangle on the right. Walk almost horizontally to reach the Salzbach farmhouse inn.
(8) Stay on this path until you reach the Uff Rain farmhouse inn.
(9) Keep to the right on this same path, cross the D 27 road and leave it on the right. You will then rejoin the path you took on the way up, turn left and return to the initial crossroads at the Platzerwaesel pass.
(1) Cross the D 27 and turn left to begin the climb to the summit of the Schnepfenriedkopf along the ridge.
(10) From here, begin the descent, keeping to the right of the ski lifts, to return to the car park at the Schnepfenriedwasen ski resort (S/E).
