Access From Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, head towards Les Baux-de-Provence on the D5 and, at the pass, park in the large car park on the left (signposted "La Caume").
PR®® signposting (yellow)
(S/E) From the car park entrance, cross the D5 (be careful, poor visibility) and climb the hill opposite via a passage blocked by wooden posts. Continue along the track between the pine trees. Ignore the track on the right coming from the road.
GR®®6signposts (white/red)
(1) Shortly afterwards, descend the track on the right (signpost). Stay on this track, ignoring any paths that may appear on either side. Walk along a large open space on the right, then past a property on the left (Mas de Gros on the IGN map).
Go through a gate and you will come to a small paved road.
(2) Turn right to reach the lake (Peirou dam on the map). Take the time to visit the site.
PR®® signposting (yellow)
At the car park entrance, facing the road you arrived on, turn right through the woods onto the path that joins a small road. Keep slightly to the right.
Not signposted
Leave it quickly by taking a path on the left, which is paved at the beginning and climbs slightly. At the top of the climb, ignore a track on the left and continue straight ahead. Pass close to a farmhouse on the left.
(3) At the first crossroads, take the left-hand track. Admire the magnificent oak trees lining the track, which climbs slightly to a gate, which you go through. Ignore the two tracks on the right, before and after the gate. The path descends and then climbs again. Leave a path on your left and descend towards the Gaudre de Valample stream, which you cross (after rain, there is sometimes a little water). You will come out onto a track.
(4) Turn right, ignore a track on the left and continue on this main track. Walk alongside the climbing site. Stay on this track, ignoring the paths on the left and right leading to properties. The track comes out onto a small tarmac road (you will follow this for about 1 km).
GR®® 653D (white and red) andPR®® (yellow) signposts
(5) Take this road on the left. This road is well maintained but quickly becomes poorly maintained at a path coming from the right (if you turn around, you will see the sign "Chemin des Servières et des Cadenières"). However, the tarmac is still visible and the path is not unpleasant. It climbs and descends two or three times. Pay attention to the last landmarks before leaving this road. It turns at a right angle at a path leading to "Mas du Rouge".
(6) Continue to the right and then take the next right. Notice a pond protected by a wire fence on your right. Ignore the path leading to Mas des Sources. After two sharp turns, you will see a sign for "Les Baux" on a pine tree to the right, opposite a house.
(7) Leave the road and climb the hill on the right. Pay attention to the signposts and stay on this well-marked path until you reach a track opposite another house below. Turn right and stay on this main track (keep an eye on the signposts), ignoring all the turnings on the right and left. Go through a gate to come out into a clear space. Continue straight ahead, ignoring the numerous track turnings (fire engine training area). Go around the houses on the left and you will come out onto a road (D27).
(8) Turn left, then 300 m further on, turn right. Follow a property wall on your right, ignoring the tarmac road also on your right which leads to houses. Cross a ford (Gaudre de Valmouriane) and continue on the track that appears.
About 200m after the ford, ignore a track that branches off to the right at a bend. Go through a gate and continue straight ahead into the Vallon du Gaudre de Valmouriane. There are no other turnings for about 1km, then ignore the one that branches off to the right. The track climbs a little more steeply. Go through a hairpin bend, another less pronounced bend and, in the next bend, in a slightly open section, a track starts uphill on the left (be careful, it is not very visible but there is an iron post that must have once supported a sign that may catch your attention).
Unmarked
(9) Take this track. After several bends, it joins another track. Turn right to rejoin the track taken by theGR®®6
GR®®6signposting (white and red)
(10) Turn left. Pass a buried cistern (on the right), ignore a track on the left and then another on the right that descends, go through two right-angle bends and you will come to a gate, which you can go through.
(11) Cross the road (D27 below) and take the path opposite, which initially runs below the small road leading to the orientation table. At the end of the path, stay on the road. Notice a ruin-like rock eroded by the weather as you pass. Further on, ignore a track on the left at the foot of a hill (the viewpoint), then, shortly after, another one that descends to the right. In fact, stay on the paved road.
(12) After the hill with the viewpoint, go through a gate and head towards the watchtower (fire lookout) that you can see in the distance. You will pass at the foot of this hill.
After the gate, ignore a track that descends to the right (Val d'Enfer), then another (next to an underground cistern marked No. 50) that climbs slightly. Leave any paths and tracks that may appear on the left or right and stay on this main track. Pass under the hill topped by the watchtower.
(13) You will come to a crossroads. Ignore the path that climbs up to the tower (although a quick detour will give you a 360° view), and the paths to the right and left, and continue straight ahead.
(14) At the signpost, ignore the "Chemin des Lombards" on the right. After a big bend, leave the track that starts between the rocks on your left (marked AL112). Leave two more paths on your left and rejoin the track you came down at the start of the circuit, towards the dam.
(1) Continue straight ahead, ignore a path on the left and shortly afterwards rejoin the D5. Cross it (with caution) to return to the car park (S/E).
