Lac de Peïrou (Saint-Rémy-de-Provence) walks

Pleasant walk in the Alpilles with magnificent panoramic views in places

From the Antiques de Glanum site, a beautiful climb up the Saint-Clerg valley, which serves as a botanical trail, takes you to the ridges and back down to Lake Peirou (Peirou, on the IGN map).

Starting from Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, a beautiful walk along large, clearly-marked, shady trails. Beautiful viewpoints over the Alpilles, the village and the château des Baux-de-Provence. The fragrant plants of the South and also pines and even cedars.

This circuit starts in a pine forest in shady valleys. The return journey is along a ridge trail with panoramic views of the village of Les Baux de Provence, the Alpilles and the adjacent valleys to the north and south. Warning: This hike has been modified from the one I originally described (due to a gate problem preventing access to part of the route). Starting from the Barrage des Peirou, this hike takes you through the forest and along a ridge trail with panoramic views of the southern slopes of the Alpilles. You can start or end your walk by strolling along the lake.
