Park in the Caume car park on the road from Saint-Rémy-de-Provence to Maussane-les-Alpilles.
(S/E) Carefully cross the D5 and climb the three steps opposite the car park entrance that lead tothe GR®6. After 100 metres, when you reach theGR®6, turn left towards Les Baux-de-Provence, heading west. This section is marked in white and red. It offers numerous panoramic views on both sides of the path.
(1) At the intersection marked by a sign indicating the Lombards trail, take it down to the entrance gate of the trail below.
(2) Go through the barrier and turn left. Soon you will see a path on the left which, via a ramp, leads to the entrance of a cave. After this optional visit, rejoin the path and walk for 300 metres. A small path on your right will take you to the D5. Turn right and follow the road south to the next intersection.
(3) Cross the road and walk along the vineyard, ignoring the path that branches off to the right. At the end of the vineyard, walk a few metres before taking the small path on the right that descends and winds down to the ford. Climb up the hill, join the carriage road and continue to the left. At the next intersection, turn left, then left again at the next one. Walk along the right side of the Péage des Poulettes.
(4) At the intersection, turn right. On the left is an olive grove called Jardin de la Paix, marked by a metal stele. Further on, there is another intersection: turn left and head south. You will come to another crossroads.
(5) Turn right to reach the old Mas Rouge quarry.
(6) The quarry is submerged in clear blue water: it's a great place to relax, but swimming is prohibited. Return to the previous crossroads.
(5) Head south on a red dirt track between the Entreconque rocks. Stay on the main path, leaving the Gaudre de Valoste on your right and walking alongside a field of olive trees on your left. You will see Mas Rouge on your right.
(7) Take the shortcut on the right, which leads further on to the forest path that crosses Les Trincades. Follow the winding path. Enjoy the views of the valley south of the Alpilles. Join a wide path.
(8) Turn left onto it, heading due north. Begin a long climb that winds its way up to the Plateau de la Caume. On the left, enjoy the views of the Entreconque rocks.
(9) At the intersection of the tracks, take the one on the left. Follow the track, which continues to climb northwards, to reach the Citerne des Amants. Enjoy the view of the Caume and the Vallon des Amants.
(10) Continue along the forest path that skirts the Vallon des Amants to the east and joins the Chemin de Baume Brignolle.
(11) Take the path on the left. On this section, some footpaths avoid following this path exactly. You will reach a three-way junction.
(12) Ignore the path going up to the Caume plateau and take the path on the left, going downhill. You will arrive at a cistern.
(13) Turn left and head west on the tarmac road: this is the Alpilles plant trail. At the end, you will come to the Caume car park (S/E).
